Next-Gen Skoda Superb Revealed – Multiple Powertrain Options Available Including Plug-In Hybrid

The upcoming 4th-generation Skoda Superb sedan has been scheduled to make its world premiere on 02 November.

Details regarding the next-gen Superb's exteriors have recently been unveiled through official sketches, alongside facets of its interiors and diverse powertrain options. It is also rumoured that the next-gen Skoda Superb sedan is expected to hit the Indian market by next year.

Updated Exteriors

The next-gen Skoda Superb flaunts the brand's 'Modern Solid' design philosophy, which is characterized by its bold streamlined aesthetics. Respecting Skoda's classic design language, the next-gen Superb retains its familiar silhouette. However, the model now comes with a range of cosmetic upgrades.

Noticeable design details include sleek-looking LED headlamps, a wider front grille, and a healthy dose of chrome elements on the bumper intake. The models also sports newly designed alloy wheels along with crystalline tail lamps that compliment the sedan's upmarket positioning.

Bigger Exterior Dimension

Dimensionally, the next-gen Skoda Superb sedan is both longer and taller than its immediate predecessor. This is expected to result into improved cabin space. Despite its larger dimensions, the next-gen Skoda Superb is very aerodynamic with a drag coefficient of just 0.24 cd.

More Luxurious Interiors

The Skoda Superb has always enveloped its occupants in luxury. With the latest iteration, the automaker has put more emphasis on reducing clutter for a more seamless user experience, resulting in a cabin that comprises of a decent blend of digital and tactile controls.

Standout tech include a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, which further enhance the cabin's digital outlook, whereas the rotary control dials remind traditional controls. Like Mercedes-Benz models, the gearshift lever is now mounted on the steering column to lend the centre console a clutter-free appeal.

Powertrain Options

In international markets, Skoda will offer the next-gen Superb with 3 petrol, 2 diesel, and a new plug-in hybrid powertrain. Also, all variants are expected to come equipped with Skoda's 7-speed DSG transmission unit. However, the plug-in hybrid is expected to feature a 6-speed DSG unit.

According to Skoda, the engine output ranges between 148bhp to 260bhp. That being said, the plug-in hybrid powertrain is expected to be capable of producing 201bhp and travelling up to 100km on EV mode.

Thoughts About The New Skoda Superb

For India, Skoda will re-launch the 3rd gen BS6 Phase 2-compliant Superb sedan. Also, unofficial bookings for the model is said to be already underway. Moreover, this time, the Superb will be imported to India via the CBU route.

Coming to the next-gen Skoda Superb, the model is equipped with cutting-edge features like ADAS, the price tag of this Skoda sedan is expected to be around Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom. However, this model is expected to be revealed in India by the end of 2024.
