Next-Gen Mercedes E-Class Interior Revealed - Gets New MBUX Superscreen

The interior of the new Mercedes E-Class luxury sedan has gone up to a whole new level and this is best seen when the upcoming's sedan's cabin comes fitted with the new MBUX Superscreen.
The new MBUX Superscreen is a smaller version of the Hyperscreen found on the EQS. Like the Hyperscreen, the Superscreen features a large pane of glass behind which sit multiple displays.
However, unlike its more indulgent sibling, the Superscreen's glass covers only the infotainment screen and the optional passenger display with the driver's display is a free-standing unit that sits behind the steering wheel.
To ensure that the driver does not become distracted by the passenger screen while driving, the new E-Class comes equipped with what Mercedes has dubbed the Visual Shield Function.
This function with the help of cameras detects whether the driver is looking at the passenger display for too long and will switch the visibility off for the driver. This car will do this automatically if any dynamic content like movies is being played on the passenger display.
Mercedes claims that the electronic architecture of the upcoming E-Class is more software-driven and less dependent on hardware. Instead of using multiple ECUs and computers, the computing functions take place in a single processor on the upcoming E-Class.
The processor and the screens are not the only changes that will show up in the new W214 which is due to arrive this summer in Europe in its sedan guise and will feature 5G connectivity.
The new W214 will allow pieces of music and sounds from movies and apps to be heard, seen and felt with the help of the optional Burmester 4D surround sound system and Active Ambient Lighting strips.
The Just talk function has also been updated for the W214 E-Class with the new car set to allow for vocal commands without the 'Hey Mercedes' hot word.
The new MBUX system also features a learning AI tech that can be taught what to do in certain situations and can also learn your habits. This means that the new E-Class will mimic what you would normally do allowing you to keep your attention on the road.

The next-gen E-Class is shaping up to be a tech powerhouse and looks set to leave its rivals from Audi and BMW in the dirt once again. Let's hope it doesn't loose the big fun bringer under the bonnet in its pursuit of technological advancements.
