More Than 1 Lakh Units Of Mahindra XUV700 and XUV400 SUVs Recalled In India – Here’s Why
The Mahindra XUV700 turned out to be a hugely successful model for the automaker. In fact, thanks to the high demand, the Mahindra XUV700 SUV continues to have one of the longest waiting periods in India.
On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV400 is the automaker's first electric SUV. However, it could not replicate the same success in its segment. However, it continues to bring in decent revenue for the company.

Now, ahead of the festive season in India, Mahindra has issued a recall of more than 1.10 lakh units of the XUV700 and XUV400 SUVs in India. The recall is regarding a potential issue in the wiring loom inside the engine bay.
Diving into details, Mahindra has recalled 1,08,306 units of the XUV700 SUVs and 3,560 units of XUV400 electric SUVs. Moreover, in the case of Mahindra XUV700, this recall is applicable to units manufactured between 8 June 2021 and 28 June 2023.
On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV400 SUVs manufactured between 16 February 2023 and 5 June 2023 were issued for recall. It is also worth mentioning that Mahindra will be individually contacting customers of the affected vehicles.
Moreover, Mahindra recently updated the XUV400 electric SUV in India with new features. As such, the top-spec Mahindra XUV400 EL variant now comes equipped with features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, cruise control, auto-dimming mirror, 6-speaker audio system and more.
Coming to the powertrain, the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV is powered by a 147.5bhp electric motor with 310Nm of peak torque. Battery pack options include a 34.5kWh and a larger 39.4kWh battery pack.
Mahindra claims that the XUV400 electric SUV can sprint to 100km/h in just 8.3 seconds and can travel up to 456 kilometres on a fully charged battery pack. However, the lower-spec variant with the smaller battery pack can cover just 375 kilometres on a full charge.
Thoughts: We do not expect the demand for the Mahindra XUV700 to go down due to this recall in the coming months. However, the demand for the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV could go down.
