MG 4 EV Teased – To Be Unveiled At Auto Expo 2023
In a bid to pump curiosity among the public, MG Motor India has teased the new MG 4 EV hatchback ahead of the upcoming Auto Expo 2023.
Apart from that, it is also worth mentioning that the Chinese-owned British automaker will also showcase the MG 4 EV at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023 along with other international models.
Speaking about the MG 4 EV, the electric hatchback is based on the company's new Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), which apparently is made specifically for the requirements of electric vehicles. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that this new EV platform belongs to MG's parent company SAIC.
Diving into the specifications of the MG 4 EV, the electric hatchback comes with a single electric motor driving the rear wheels and comes with two options for the battery pack with respective electric motors. Battery pack sizes include a decent-sized 51kWh battery pack and a much larger 64kWh battery pack as well.
Coming to the electric motor, the MG 4 EV with a 51kWh battery pack comes equipped with a 168bhp electric motor, whereas the MG 4 EV with a bigger 64kWh battery pack comes with a more powerful 201bhp electric motor. However, the torque output from both electric motors stands at 250Nm.
Apart from that, the MG 4 EV recently scored a very respectable 5-Star safety rating at the latest round of Euro NCAP crash safety tests and secured 83 per cent in the Adult Occupant Protection crash test with a score of 31.6 points out of 38 points.
Diving into the details of the Euro NCAP crash tests, the MG 4 EV even scored 39.5 points out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection crash test and secured 78 per cent with a score of 12.6 points out of 16 points for the safety systems.

The new MG 4 EV is a rear-wheel drive hatchback, which is something enthusiasts might be interested in and the configuration also happens to be quite rare. That being said, the MG 4 EV comes with all the essentials to be a successful EV in India.
