The First All-Electric Maybach Is Here - Say Hello To The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV
German luxury carmaker Mercedes has revealed the Maybach EQS SUV. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is the first-ever all-electric model to sport the iconic badge of the century-plus old German ultra-luxury carmaker.
The new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is now the third offering from the luxury specialists at Maybach after the S-Class and GLS SUV. The new Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is destined for the American and Chinese markets.
Under the skin of the new flagship EQS SUV model sits a dual-electric motor setup that draws power from a 107kWh lithium-ion battery pack delivering up to 600 kilometres of range.
The two electric motors combine to send 649bhp and 950Nm of peak torque to all four wheels. This allows the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds and onward to a top speed of 210km/h.
Charging speeds are quite brisk as well as the new luxury Maybach EQS SUV supports 200kW DC fast charging which allows for a 10 to 80 per cent charging time of just 31 minutes. In fact, at full chat, the Maybach will recover 220km of range in just 15 minutes.
Other features on the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV include rear-wheel steering up to 10 degrees which allows for a turning circle of just 11 metres. The Maybach EQS SUV also gets adaptive air suspension as standard focused on maximising ride comfort.
In terms of its design the new EQS SUV from Mercedes-Maybach sports the luxury arm's trademark vertical grille styling on the usual black plastic section that makes up the faux grille on the electric SUV.
The faux grille section is now totally smooth as the radar sensors have been fully integrated into the grille while the three-pointed Mercedes emblem now stands loud and proud above the bonnet.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV rides on either 21 or 22-inch wheels depending on the customer's choice. Both sets of wheels feature unique designs that are specific to the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV.
Like its other Maybach siblings the new EQS SUV sports a dual-tone paint finish with a filigree pinstripe. The dual-tone scheme is offered in five colour combinations - high-tech silver/obsidian black, high-tech silver/nautical blue, obsidian black/selenite grey, obsidian black/Kalahari gold and velvet brown/onyx black.
The interior of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV takes the luxury levels up another notch. The Maybach version of the EQS SUV features extra sound deadening to keep the occupants even more cocooned from the road.
As always, the dash is dominated by the edge-to-edge Hyperscreen that stretches across the dashboard. The seats at both the front and the rear are as luxurious with the ones at the rear stretching out for the ultimate first-class experience on the ground.
