German luxury carmaker Mercedes has launched AMG badged E 53 Cabriolet in India. The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet is priced at Rs 1.3 crore (ex-showroom).

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet is the 4th 53 badged AMG vehicle from the German carmaker to make its way to India. The new Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet is the first launch for the German luxury marque this year in India.

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet is powered by a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder engine that is aided by a 48V mild hybrid system. The straight six engine features produces 429bhp at 6,100rpm and 520Nm of peak torque from 1,800 to 5,800rpm. The integrated starter-alternator from the mild hybrid system adds an additional 22bhp and 250Nm of torque when needed.

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet's engine sends power to all four wheels via a 9-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds and its top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet also comes equipped with the AMG Ride Control+ adjustable suspension setup. The E 53 Cabriolet gets multi-Chambered air suspension that can be tweaked to deliver a more comfortable ride or a sportier setup and everything in between.

In terms of its looks, the E 53 Cabriolet looks like an angrier version of the drop-top Mercedes E-Class. At the front, the E 53 Cabriolet features new LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs along with AMG-specific Panamericana grille with thick verticles slats and a large Mercedes star at the centre of the grille and an AMG badge to the side.

Also seen is a larger lower air dam that helps channel cool air into the engine bay along with a new front splitter. The new E 53 Cabriolet rides on new AMG-specific 19-inch alloy wheels and also sports a new bootlip spoiler at the rear along with two-piece LED taillights and quad tailpipes. The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet features a fabric softop that folds into the boot in around 20 seconds at the press of a button.

Step into the driver's seat of the new Mercedes-AMG and you'll find yourself gripping an AMG-specific steering wheels with 2 dials to change the drive modes and other settings along with capacitive buttons. Sitting behind the steering wheel is a single pane of glass hosting dual 12.3-inch displays for the instrumentation and the infotainment setups. Also seen is a heads-up display.

The seats feature AMG badging and an upholstery layout specific to the power hungry nutters at Merc's in-house tuning arm. These AMG spec seats though do not skimp out on comfort with the E 53 Cabriolet getting the Seat Comfort package as well seat heating for both occupants at the front. The seats at the rear are best left for smaller statured people and kids.

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet is the German carmaker's first new offering in 2023 for India after a blockbuster 2022 and is the perfect offering for those with the big pockets looking for a drop-top cruiser with a bit of oomph under the bonnet.
