The McLaren GTS Dials The Mid-Engined Grand Tourer Formula Up To 11
British supercar marque McLaren has revealed the GTS mid-engined grand tourer. The McLaren GTS replaces the GT in the British automaker's lineup and brings both cosmetic and mechanical upgrades.
McLaren claims that the super lightweight GTS is engineered to delight drivers who demand the dynamic excellence and driving excitement of a McLaren and the ride comfort, refinement and luggage space suited to routine drives and extended journeys.

Aesthetically, the exterior of the new McLaren GTS has been subtly refreshed compared to the outgoing GT. The McLaren GTS sports a new front bumper, trim elements, and a fresh set of alloy wheels. New GTS badging, including new side badges, can be tinted with a black finish if customers select the Stealth Badge Pack option.
The new GTS also features an upgraded nose lift system to save all the expensive carbon bits from scraping the ground. Enhanced over the GT's system, the GTS vehicle lift can raise or lower the nose in just four seconds, twice as fast compared to its predecessor.

Inside, the GTS offers new colour and trim (leather, Alcantara and more) options, aiming to maintain a clean interior aesthetic complemented by top-quality materials. An optional electrochromic glass roof that can be tinted on demand is also available.
McLaren claims that the new GTS is the most practical new supercar on sale today thanks to its 570 litres of cargo space. This includes a frunk with 150 litres of space and the mid-mounted 420-litre trunk that can be accessed via a front-hinged, full-length glass tailgate that is electrically operated and features soft close.

The mechanical changes come in the form of an upgraded engine. The 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine now pushes out 626bhp (15bhp more than the GT) and 630Nm of peak torque. The engine sends power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and McLaren's Brake Steer system that eliminates the need for a traditional limited slip-diff.
The McLaren GTS is 10 kilos lighter than its predecessor at 1,520kg. This weight reduction translates into enhanced performance - the GTS can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.2 seconds and reach 200km/km/h in 8.9 seconds. The top speed of the McLaren GTS is 327km/h.

The GTS sports standard carbon-ceramic brakes, with 390mm front and 380mm rear discs, operated by six and four-piston callipers respectively. The suspension setup is double wishbone suspension all around fitted with McLaren's Proactive Damper Control system.
Thoughts About The McLaren GTS

The McLaren GTS is a testament to McLaren's commitment to enhancing the grand touring experience in its unique way. The McLaren GTS takes all that McLaren learned from the GT and takes it up a notch to make a supercar that is not only crazy quick but also surprisingly practical.
