Maruti Suzuki Soars High With A Mega Milestone Of 10 Lakh Automatic Vehicle Sales

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), a pioneer of auto-industry innovation, announces a historic milestone as it breaks past the sales of 10 lakh automatic vehicles. Marketing four unique automatic transmission systems available in 16 different models, MSIL continues to make significant strides in promoting the Joy of Mobility across the country.

Maruti Suzuki is a well-established pioneer in auto-industry innovation and has made significant contributions to the adoption of two-pedal automatic car technology in India.

Now during the festive season, Maruti Suzuki has announced that it has reached the 10 lakh sales milestone mark for its automatic cars. This is a remarkable achievement considering the Indian automobile market is still dominated by cars equipped with manual transmission.

MSIL currently markets four unique automatic transmission systems - The Auto Gear Shift (AGS), 4-speed Automatic Transmission (AT), Advanced 6-speed Automatic Transmission (AT) with steering-mounted Paddle Shifters, and Electronic-Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT), which are available in a total of 16 different models to suit the diverse needs of Indian consumers.

MSIL has firmly established its position as the leading automatic car manufacturer in India through the deployment of path-breaking technologies backed by comprehensive consumer research. The company unveiled its AGS technology in 2014 which was widely embraced by consumers.

Presently, 65% of the automatic vehicles sold by MSIL are fitted with AGS technology. In terms of sales, the AT automatic transmission models comprise 27%, and the Hybrid e-CVT transmission forms about 8% of total MSIL's automatic sales.

Commenting on the milestone, Maruti Suzuki India’s Senior Executive Officer of Marketing and Sales, Shashank Srivastava, asserted, "Our commitment at Maruti Suzuki is to deliver the best driving experience to our customers. We are fervent in spreading the 'Joy of Mobility' to all! This dedication has empowered us to bring automatic transmission technology to a wide range of options. We are honoured by the positive response from our customers, resulting in robust sales of MSIL's automatic cars. Already at mid-financial year, we’re nearing the one lakh automatic vehicle sales target for FY23-24, which for us is an extraordinary achievement.”

Additionally, Srivastava pointed out consumer trends, noting, "NEXA customers tend to opt for high-end automatic variants whereas Arena customers lean towards mid-variants. As of now, NEXA constitutes roughly 58% of MSIL's automatic car sales, and Arena brings in about 42%."

The regions contributing the most to Maruti Suzuki's automatic car sales are the Delhi & NCR region, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerela. Maruti Suzuki offers a multitude of models with various types of automatic transmissions for every type of customer preference.
