Maruti Suzuki Sales Report November 2023: Y-o-Y Sales Rise By 3%

India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki reported a 3 per cent Y-o-Y increase in sales in November 2023. Maruti Suzuki shipped out a total of 164,439 units last month compared to 159,044 units in November 2022.

Out of the 164,439 units shipped out in November 2023, 134,158 units were passenger vehicles. Maruti Suzuki also sold 2,509 units of the Super Carry LCV last month.

Sales to other OEMs (Toyota) accounted for another 4,822 units shipped out in November. The nation's largest carmaker also exported 22,590 vehicles to other countries last month.

Maruti's domestic passenger vehicle sales rose by just 1.3 per cent or 1,768 units to 134,158 units in November 2023. Maruti Suzuki sold 132,395 passenger vehicles in November 2022.

The minimal increase in sales is mostly due to the drop in the sales of Maruti Suzuki's hatchbacks and sedans which accounted for 74,916 of the 134,158 units sold last month. Sales of hatchbacks and sedans from Maruti Suzuki dropped by 19.13 per cent (17,733 units) Y-o-Y compared to the 92,649 units sold in November 2022.

Thankfully, Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicles and vans more than compensated for the drop. Sales of Maruti's SUVs and MPVs rose to 49,016 units last month, up 50.52 per cent (16,453 units) Y-o-Y compared to the 32,563 units sold in November 2022.

Maruti Suzuki's Eeco van continued to dominate the segment in India. The Eeco accounted for 10,226 units sold by Maruti in the domestic market. Sales of the Eeco rose by 42.36 per cent (3,043 units) compared to the 7,183 units sold in November 2022.

Sales of Maruti Suzuki's only LCV, the Super Carry dropped slightly to 2,509 units. This was a decrease of 151 units (5.6 per cent) compared to the 2,660 units of the Super Carry Maruti Suzuki sold in November 2022.

Maruti Suzuki's shipments to other OEMs also rose slightly to 4,822 units. Year-over-year sales to other OEMs rose by 571 units or 13.4 per cent compared to the 4,251 units shipped in November 2022.

Finally, Exports too were in the black. Maruti Suzuki shipped out 22,950 units to other countries from India last month. Y-o-Y exports rose by 3,202 units or 16.27 per cent compared to the same period in 2022 when 19,738 units were exported.

Maruti Suzuki continued to lead the sales charts in India in November 2023. The shift in domestic sales from hatchbacks and sedans to Utility Vehicles shows that even fans of Maruti Suzuki have caught the SUV bug.
