Maruti Suzuki's Innova Hycross Doppelganger Almost Ready For Launch - All We Know So Far
The Toyota Innova Hyross turned out to be another success story for Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited (TKM). Moreover, Toyota sold more than 5,750 units of Innova Hycross in March 2023.
In fact, Toyota has stopped accepting bookings of some variants of the Toyota Innova Hycross MPV as the waiting period for these variants of the MPV stretches as far as 2.5 years.
That being said, RC Bhargava, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki hinted that the company is sourcing a premium hybrid MPV from Toyota. This is highly unlikely to be the Toyota Vellfire and all logics point at the Innova Hycross.
If true, we can expect the Maruti Suzuki's version of the Toyota Innova Hycross in the coming months. Moreover, we expect this upcoming MPV to sport a new front fascia and a slightly revised rear section as well.
That being said, we are not sure if the Maruti Suzuki's version of the Innova Hycross will come exclusively with the Strong Hybrid powertrain or if it will also come with the 2.0-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine as well.
It is also worth mentioning that the Toyota Innova Hycross is manufactured at Toyota's manufacturing facility in Bidadi, Karnataka. This means the production volume for the Innova Hycross will be an issue given the high demand for the MPV.
As such, we expect Maruti Suzuki's version of the Hycross will be sold in limited numbers. In fact, Maruti Suzuki is expecting to sell just 10,000 units of this MPV annually, which is less than 1,000 units per month.
Furthermore, we expect this upcoming MPV to be offered in multiple trim levels and sold exclusively through the Nexa dealerships. Also, prices for the Maruti Suzuki's version of the Hycross could be around Rs 50,000 more than the equivalent Toyota version.
Thoughts: With the launch of rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross, the Nexa dealerships will witness more premium customers, which may help the Indo-Japanese automaker in the long run.
