Maruti Suzuki Jimny Will Be Launched In India On 7th June – Surpasses 30,000 Bookings
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the highly anticipated Jimny in June. The Jimny will join the expanding market of lifestyle off-roaders, joining the likes of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. Jimny will be sold through Maruti Suzuki's premium Nexa dealerships.
Since its debut at Auto Expo earlier this year, bookings for the Jimny have been ongoing, and has received almost 30,000 bookings for the SUV. After the launch, customers can expect a waiting period of six to eight months.
The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine that can generate 105bhp of power and 134.2Nm of torque. Jimny offers either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Maruti claims that the manual variant has a fuel efficiency of 16.94km, while the automatic variant gives 16.39km per litre. The fuel tank will contain 40 litres of fuel; the manual variant could cover up to 678km on a full tank, whereas the automatic version could cover up to 656km.
Jimny features Suzuki's All Grip Pro 4WD system, which includes a manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox and offers modes such as 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low. The vehicle's ladder-frame chassis provides additional strength and durability.
The SUV will be made available in two variants, Zeta and Alpha. Since the Alpha trim has a greater demand, and so it might get priority in the production process.
The most favoured colour options for the Jimny have been Bluish Black, Kinetic Yellow, and Pearl Arctic White. The Jimny is expected to be priced between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Interior has features like auto LED headlamps, a 9-inch touchscreen, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, Cruise control, and Arkamys sound system. It also has safety features like six airbags, ESP with a hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, rear-view camera, and ABS with EBD.
