Maruti Suzuki Jimny Bookings Cross 23,500 Units – Launch, Waiting Period & More
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV is sure to taste success in India as the SUV has already bagged more than 23,500 bookings ahead of its launch in the country.
In fact, Maruti Suzuki has increased the booking amount for the Jimny SUV to Rs 25,000 just to slow down the booking pace. That being said, Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the Jimny SUV around May.
Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the 5-door off-road SUV will be made available in two trim levels - Zeta and Alpha, and a total of 4 variants of the SUV will be available including automatic and manual variants of respective trim levels.
In terms of powertrain, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This engine in the upcoming Jimny SUV is expected to put out around 103bhp of peak power and 134.2Nm of peak torque.
In addition to that, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV comes equipped with Suzuki's AllGrip Pro 4WD system that consists of a low-range gearbox with 2WD-high, 4WD-high and 4WD-low modes. Out of these modes, the 4WD-low mode is used for extreme off-road conditions.
Features on the Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV include auto headlamps, a large 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment unit, Arkayms audio system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cruise control, climate control, keyless entry, alloy wheels, headlamp washers, and much more.
That being said, we expect the waiting period for the Jimny SUV to increase in the coming months as production of the SUV is currently capped at just 7,000 units per month. Furthermore, we expect Maruti Suzuki to price the Jimny under Rs 10 lakh for the base variant.
