Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV Deliveries Commence Across India – However, It’s Not All Good News
Maruti Suzuki has finally commenced the deliveries of the Fronx SUV in India. However, it is not all good news as the company has bagged more than 50,000 bookings for the Baleno-based SUV.
While this booking figure marks the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV as a very successful product for the Indo-Japanese automaker, it will be very difficult for the company to deliver these many units of the Fronx SUV in a short period of time.
On top of that, Maruti Suzuki is also gearing up to launch the long-awaited Jimny SUV in India. As such, we expect the waiting period for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV to further extend in the coming months.
While it is not common to see car manufacturers hike the prices of their newer models, the increased demand for the Fronx SUV may push for a price hike for the newly launched sub-4m SUV in the near future.
In such cases, some of the customers who have already booked the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV might have to shell out a few extra bucks to match the imposed price hike.
That being said, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV is offered in 5 trim levels - Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. Out of these trim levels the 'Sigma' is the base trim level, whereas the 'Alpha' is the top-spec trim level.
On top of that, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV comes with two engine options. The base 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine produces 88.5 bhp of peak power and 113Nm of peak torque. This engine can be specified with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT unit.
On the other hand, the 1.0-litre, turbocharged engine puts out 98.6bhp of peak power and 147.6Nm of peak torque. While this engine can also be specified with a 5-speed manual transmission, the automatic gearbox is a more advanced 6-speed torque converter unit.
At present, prices for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV starts from Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Sigma variant and goes all the way up to Rs 13.13 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Alpha variant equipped with an automatic gearbox and dual-tone colour option.

Though the Baleno-based Fronx SUV turned out to be another success story for the Indo-Japanese automaker, we expect the waiting period for this newly launched sub-4m SUV to increase in the coming months due to its high demand in the country.
