Speaking about the new Maruti Suzuki Fronx, the upcoming sub-4m SUV is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback. However, designers at Maruti Suzuki have done a commendable at hiding most of Baleno's design traits in the new Fronx SUV. In fact, it is very hard to believe that the Fronx SUV is based on the Baleno from the outside.

That being said, the interior of the new Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV only features minor differences to the Baleno hatchback, which is not a bad thing as it comes with plenty of features such as a 9-inch infotainment unit, Apple Car Play and Android Auto Connectivity, wireless charger, 6-speaker audio system, push button start/stop system, height-adjustable driver's seat, connected car features, footwell illumination, rear AC vents, centre armrest, coloured MID display, 6 airbags, fast charging USB ports and much more.

In terms of powertrain, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV comes with two engine options. The base engine option is a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine with 88.5 bhp of peak power and 113Nm of peak torque. This engine can be specified with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT unit.

On the other hand, the 1.0-litre, turbocharged engine puts out a much healthier 98.6bhp of peak power and 147.6Nm of peak torque. Furthermore, this more powerful engine can be specified with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a more advanced 6-speed automatic transmission.

Thoughts About The Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV

With the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV, the Indo-Japanese automaker is looking forward to dominating the sub-4m SUV segment in India. Despite being based on the Baleno hatchback, designers have done a commendable job at making the Fronx SUV very distinguishable and slightly more premium-looking as well.
