Maruti Suzuki EVX Launch Set For Late 2024 - Next Year's Diwali King?

The production-spec Maruti Suzuki EVX electric SUV is set to make its global debut late next year, claims a new report. The Maruti Suzuki EVX debuted in concept guise at Auto Expo 2023.

According to the report, the first electric vehicle from India's largest carmaker will debut in October 2024. The report claims that Maruti Suzuki will also announce prices for the production EVX at the event, which will also be the global debut of the electric SUV.

The first all-electric SUV from Maruti Suzuki rides on a version of Toyota's 40P electric skateboard platform dubbed 27P. The 27P will feature heavy localization, and the SUV based on it will be produced at Suzuki's production plant in Gujarat.

The usage of Toyota's electric vehicle platform also tells us another story, the EVX will be the next vehicle to be a badge-swapped Toyota. The version with the Toyota badge is expected to arrive a little after the Maruti EVX.

Both versions of the EVX electric SUV will be manufactured at Suzuki's facility in Gujarat. The plant in Gujarat, which is currently used only to export Suzuki vehicles to foreign markets, will be used for both domestic and international markets.

The Maruti Suzuki EVX was recently spotted testing in Europe, but details about the SUV are stills scarce. The concept car shown at Auto Expo 2023 sported a 2,700mm long wheelbase.

The EVX concept from Maruti Suzuki that was showcased at Auto Expo was 4,300mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,600mm tall.

The concept version of Maruti Suzuki's first electric SUV sported a 60kWh lithium-ion battery pack featured a range of 550 kilometres. The report claims the entry-level version of the EVX will sport a smaller 48kWh battery pack with a range of 400km.

The production version of the Maruti Suzuki EVX looks to be squarely aimed at the upcoming Creta EV, which is expected to debut at Auto Expo 2025. Maruti though, looks set to steal a march over its rivals, with the launch set for October 2024.
