Maruti Suzuki Engage To Make Its Debut On July 5 - Innova HyCross Based MPV
In December 2022, when the Toyota Innova HyCross made its debut in the market, there was speculation that there would be a Maruti counterpart of the Toyota MPV. Later we learned that the car would be named "Engage," based on the trademarks filed.
Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that their upcoming premium seven-seater MPV, based on the Toyota Innova HyCross, will debut on July 5. Maruti has provided a sneak peek of the vehicle by releasing a teaser image of the MPV named "Engage,"

With a strong aim to conquer the larger utility vehicles segment, the carmaker will introduce the petrol and hybrid variants of the MPV. Like the previous collaborations between Toyota and Maruti, the MPV is expected to have some noticeable visual variations in the front and rear design and unique upholstery.
The Engage MPV will be launched as Maruti's new flagship model, above the Grand Vitara - the current flagship car. Engage will be the most expensive car in Maruti's current lineup and also the third MPV in Maruti's range of three-row models.
Maruti's Engage is said to feature the same powertrain options as Toyota Innova HyCross. The HyCoss comes with a 2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 174bhp and 205Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT transmission.
The Toyota MPV is also offered as a strong-hybrid variant that houses a 2-litre petrol engine and an electric motor that combinedly produces 186bhp of power and 209Nm of torque. It is paired with an e-CVT transmission and offers over 21km per litre of claimed mileage.
Inside, the Maruti MPV might feature a 10-inch touchscreen unit, dual-zone climate control, a digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and powered front and second-row seats with ottoman functionality for the latter.
The Engage will have safety features similar to the Toyota MPV, such as six airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start and descent assists, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and so on.
Thoughts About The Debut Of Maruti Suzuki Engage
Maruti Suzuki currently sells two models with three-row seating, the Ertiga and XL6, both of which have been performing well in sales. However, the upcoming Engage three-row MPV could target a completely new market segment for the company.
This is particularly important because Maruti Suzuki generally has a demand for its smaller vehicles. The introduction of the Engage MPV allows the company to tap into a different customer base and explore new growth opportunities.
