Maruti Suzuki Engage Production Commences – Undisguised Images Out
Recently, Maruti Suzuki revealed that it will launch the Engage MPV on July 5. Now, undisguised images of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Engage MPV from the production facility have been leaked online.
Diving into details, the images of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Engage MPV were clicked at Toyota's manufacturing facility near Bangalore. These leaked images also confirm that the production of the Maruti Suzuki Engage MPV has commenced in India and it will be handled by Toyota.
Apart from that, the leaked images also confirm that the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Engage is visually distinct from the Toyota Innova Hycross. This visual distinction is achieved using a new front grille that is in line with Maruti Suzuki's latest design and a revised front bumper.
A closer look also reveals that the Maruti Suzuki Engage does not come with the 360-degree cladding that is present on the Toyota Innova Hycross. This makes the Engage look a lot less rugged. Additionally, we also expect the Maruti Suzuki Engage to come with different rear bumpers as well.
Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Engage, the MPV is a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross. As such, the Maruti Suzuki Engage is also expected to come with the same two powertrain options that power the Toyota Innova Hycross - A naturally-aspirated petrol engine, and a Strong Hybrid engine.
The 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine in the Innova Hycross produces 172bhp and 205Nm of torque, whereas the hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, Atkinson cycle petrol engine and an electric motor. This powertrain produces 184.8bhp and 206Nm of torque.
In terms of pricing, the upcoming Engage MPV will be the most expensive product from Maruti Suzuki to date. We also expect the Strong Hybrid variants of the Maruti Suzuki Engage to be slightly more expensive than Toyota Innova Hycross.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Engage
Since Toyota has already commenced the production of the Maruti Suzuki Hycross, we expect the Indo-Japanese automaker to commence the deliveries soon after the launch of the model in the country. Also, the Engage MPV will be exclusively sold through the Nexa dealerships in the country.
