Maruti Suzuki Baleno Updated – Receives New Safety Features
India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has updated the Baleno with new safety features in India. The premium hatchback now gets ESP and hill hold as standard across all variants.
Diving into details, the addition of ESP makes the base variants of the Baleno premium hatchback a lot more safer by reducing the risk of skidding. This feature is especially useful during slippery road conditions.
Furthermore, with the added hill-hold function, new Baleno users can easily drive on steep inclines without worrying about the vehicle rolling backwards as the vehicle will continue to apply brakes for a few seconds even after the user releases the brake pedal. This gives plenty of time for the user to shift gear and move forward.
Other noticeable safety feature on the updated base-spec Maruti Suzuki Baleno includes safety systems such as driver and passenger airbags, speed alert, seat belt reminder, ABS with EBD braking system, reverse parking sensors, brake assist, seat-belt tensioner and a few more.
Furthermore, prices of the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been increased by Rs 12,000 and the base model now costs Rs 6.56 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and continues to come equipped with features such as halogen projector headlamps, LED taillamps, auto climate control, rear defogger, all power windows, keyless entry, central locking, tilt power steering, semi-digital instrument panel and a few more.
In terms of powertrain, the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno continues to be offered with the same engine. This engine is a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system. According to Maruti Suzuki, this engine produces 89bhp of peak power and 113Nm of peak torque.
