Mahindra XUV700 Hits 1 Lakh Deliveries Milestone
Indian SUV specialist Mahindra has completed the deliveries of 1 lakh units of its flagship XUV700 SUV in India. The milestone comes 20 months after the launch of the Mahindra XUV700 in October 2021.
In the first 12 months after its launch, Mahindra delivered 50,000 units of the XUV700 SUV. However, Mahindra has since upped its game, delivering the next fifty thousand XUV700s in just eight months.
Despite Mahindra's best efforts, the Mumbai-based firm hasn't been able to keep up with the insane demand for its flagship SUV as customers continue to flock to dealerships.
Recently, Mahindra revealed that it had nearly 78,000 orders still open for the XUV700 and that it had upped production numbers for the SUV to 8,000 units per month. However, the backlog has meant that if you try and buy the XUV700 today, especially top-spec variants, you'll end up waiting for over a year.
The Mahindra XUV700 is currently offered to customers with two turbocharged engine options - a 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel. Both the petrol and diesel engines are offered with either manual or automatic 6-speed transmissions.
The 2.0-litre petrol engine is good for 197bhp and 380Nm of peak torque. The XUV700's diesel engine, on the other hand, pushes out 182bhp and 420Nm of torque. The torque figure rises to 450Nm when the diesel is paired with the automatic gearbox.
The Mahindra XUV700 goes up against an array of 5 and 7-seater SUVs thanks to its aggressive pricing and seating configurations. The Mahindra XUV700 goes up against everything from the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki's Grand Vitara, along with larger SUVs like the Tata Safari and the Hyundai Alcazar.
Thoughts About The Mahindra XUV700's Milestone
The Mahindra XUV700 has hit the 1 lakh delivery mark in just 20 months. However, with demand continuing to rise, delays in delivery will be inevitable, with some waiting periods stretching past the year mark. Hopefully, Mahindra will continue to ramp up production to deal with this issue.
