Mahindra XUV400 Electric Surpasses 23,000 Bookings - Updated Waiting Period Revealed

Mahindra's much-awaited EV XUV400 Electric was launched in January, and the bookings are still going strong. Considering the supply, the company had set an initial target of delivering 20,000 units within the first year of launch,

The waiting period for the XUV400 has been now extended to six months. The carmaker began to deliver the top-end variant by March 2023. At the same time, the deliveries of the base variant will only start during the festive season.

In just four months, the EV has received more than 23,000 bookings, of which the carmaker has already delivered 4,000. This achievement is commendable as it demonstrates their dedication to serving their customers.

The XUV400 Electric will be made available with two battery packs - 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh - power an electric motor fixed on the front axle, producing 150bhp and 310Nm of torque.

Mahindra had claimed a range of 375km for the smaller 34.5kWh battery pack, whereas the one with a bigger 39.4kWh battery pack has a range of 456km on a single charge.

Using a 50kW DC fast charger, the XUV400 can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in just 50 minutes. Mahindra also provides two standard charging options: a 3.3kW AC charger and a 7.2kW AC charger.

The XUV400 is available in two trims - the base option EC and the top-end EL. The EC is offered with the 34.5kWh battery pack with either a 3.3kW or 7.2kW AC charger. The EL trim, on the other hand, gets the 39.5kWh battery pack with a 7.2kW AC charger.

This SUV is currently priced between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, it's important to note that these prices are introductory and apply only for the first 5,000 bookings of each variant.

The all new Mahindra XUV400 Electric has features like a 7.0-inch infotainment system with Mahindra's AdrenoX software, a single-pane sunroof, and connected car technology with over the air (OTA) updates.

Other features include a height-adjustable driver seat, rear wiper and washer with demister, front and rear armrests with storage, keyless entry with push button start, automatic headlamp & wiper, smartwatch connectivity, projector headlamps with DRL, etc.

Regarding safety, XUV400 retains almost everything from its ICE sibling XUV300. This EV tops the safety charts with a 5-star rating from global NCAP and gets up to six airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, an IP67 rating for the battery pack, and ISOFIX anchorages.

Thoughts About Mahindra XUV400 Electric's Booking And Waiting Period

Amassing 23,000 bookings and delivering 4000 cars in just five months is indeed a remarkable achievement. XUV400 Electric being the only direct competitor against the Tata Nexon EV - current fan favourite, Mahindra will have to pull up the cards under the sleeves to do the trick.
