Mahindra Vision Thar.e Revealed - Thar To Get Bolder & Bigger In Electric Guise
Indian SUV specialist Mahindra has revealed the Vision Thar.e at its Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa. The Mahindra Vision Thar.e previews the all-electric version of the iconic Thar SUV.
The Mahindra Vision Thar.e like the firm's other electric vehicles including EV versions of the Bolero, Scorpio and XUV lineup along with upcoming Born Electric electric utility vehicles.
The Mahindra Vision Thar.e is based on the customised INGLO-P1 platform that will help integrate the silhouette of the Thar into its electric avatar.
Mahindra claims that the Vision Thar.e's wheelbase will measure between 2,775mm and 2,975mm and that the electric version of the firm's iconic SUV will feature shorter overhangs compared to its dino burning sibling as well higher ground clearance.
The Thar.e like the firm's other upcoming EV models could sport a 80kWh LFP chemistry blade lithium-ion battery pack from EV giant Build Your Dreams.
In RWD guise, the electric Thar.e will be powered by either a 228bhp, 380Nm motor from Valeo or a 282bhp, 535Nm electric spinner from Volkswagen. The four-wheel-drive version will feature an additional 107bhp, 135Nm electric on the front axle.
The Vision Thar.e in terms of its design brings the Thar's design into the future while retaining that rugged design that has made the ICE version of the SUV the off-roading community darling.
Mahindra has not released any details about when the electric version of the Thar will be launched but the firm did reveal those details for the SUVs it revealed a few years back.
Mahindra's electric charge will be led by the XUV.e8 which is slated to launch in December 2024. The XUV.e9 will be the next to hit the streets in April 2025. The Mahindra BE.05 will be the next to arrive in October 2025 with the BE.07 set for an April 2026 launch.
