Mahindra Thar 1 Lakh Units Sold – Celebrates The Remarkable Milestone
Mahindra Thar is one of the most sought-after SUVs currently in India. Known for its off-roading capabilities and muscular looks, this rugged baby is loved by both youngsters and elders alike.
Introduced in 2020, Mahindra had recently announced that they had crossed the 1 lakh production mark, And now they've announced that they have surpassed the 1 lakh sales milestone as well.
The company took to its social media by posting a video celebrating the Thar. Anand Mahindra, Chairperson, Mahindra & Mahindra, shared the same video with the caption "Lakhon me ek. Here's to the next 100,000...."
Mahindra Thar is offered in RWD and 4WD, with petrol and diesel engine options. The RWD Thar is available with 1.5-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol powertrains, while the 4WD Thar can be optioned with either a 2.2-litre diesel or 2.0-litre petrol engine.
All of these powertrains can be paired with a 6-speed automatic or manual gearbox, except for the 1.5-liter diesel variant of the SUV, which is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 118bhp of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque, whereas the 2.2-litre diesel engine churns out 130bhp of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque.
Talking about the petrol trim, the 2.0-litre petrol powertrain produces 150bhp of power and 300Nm of peak torque. Due to the high demand, booking the diesel trims of the Mahindra Thar will take up to 17 months, whereas the petrol trims can be availed in weeks.
Inside, Thar has adjustable headrests, adjustable steering wheel, glove box cooling, keyless entry, digital odometer, power steering, power windows, rain sensing wipers, start/stop button, tachometer, and a 7-inch infotainment system.
The SUV tops the safety charts with a 4-star rating, and the safety net of Thar comes loaded with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), Central Locking, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), ISOFIX (Child-Seat Mount), two airbags, etc.
Mahindra offers Thar in 11 variants, and the base model is priced at Rs 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes all the way up to Rs 16.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
