Mahindra Thar EV Is Almost Here – Debut On August 15
Mahindra's global event is scheduled to be held on August 15 in South Africa. The event is said to be top-tier stuff and the expectations are already sky-high with the scheduled unveiling of the Scorpio N pickup.
Now, Mahindra seems to be further pushing the boundaries by unveiling the Mahindra Thar EV concept at the upcoming global event in South Africa. That being said, the speculations about the Thar EV concept are becoming extremely wild with rumour mills working at full capacity.
Some of the wildest rumours include four individual electric motors powering the model with the ability to 'Crab Walk', where each wheel is directed towards the same direction. It is also rumoured that the Mahindra Thar EV concept could do a 360-degree turn much like an army tank.
However, the most insane claim is regarding the powertrain setup of the Mahindra Thar EV concept. This is because some people even go ahead and claim that the powertrain for the Thar EV is sourced from Rimac.
Overall, it is a pretty long shot given the Mahindra-owned Pininfarina Battista hypercar uses the powertrain sourced from Rimac. However, the powertrain in the Pininfarina Battista uses a 120kWh battery pack and the total electric motor output is rated at 1,900bhp.
That being said, Mahindra is being tight-lipped about the Mahindra Thar EV, and there is almost no official information regarding this upcoming concept. In fact, there is still no clarity on whether the upcoming Thar EV concept will feature a traditional ladder frame or a modern monocoque chassis.
As such, expect rumour mills to work in full swing till the Mahindra Thar EV concept SUV makes its debut at Mahindra's global event in South Africa on August 15.

We expect Mahindra to be on the right track with the electrified version of the Thar SUV. However, the details on the model are just a guessing game until Mahindra unveils the model at the event in South Africa on August 15.
