Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 Variant Launch Soon – Details Leak
Car manufacturers in India are gearing up to embrace new emission regulations and amid that, details regarding the upcoming S5 variant of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV gets leaked online.
These newly leaked details not only reveal that the upcoming S5 variant of the Mahindra Classic SUV comes with three types of seating configuration including a 9-seater layout, but it also reveals that the Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV will now come with a total of 7 variants.
Furthermore, unlike the existing variants of the Scorpio Classic, the 9-seater layout is now being offered in both S5 and S11 trim levels. In addition to that, both S5 and S11 trim levels of the Scorpio Classic SUV now come with option for speccing captain seats in the middle row.
That being said, one of the biggest changes on the Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV has been made to its powertrain to make it compliant with the new BS-6 2 emission regulations. However, the base engine configuration continues to be the same.
As such, the 2,184cc, turbocharged diesel engine now puts out 130bhp of peak power at 3,750rpm. Though the torque output of the uprated engine is not revealed in the leaked details, we expect the engine to push around 300Nm of peak torque.
In addition to that, it is also worth mentioning that the updated new Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV will continue to be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox only, and we do not expect the model to sport an automatic gearbox anytime soon given the model is aimed at rural customers.
That being said, the upcoming Scoprio Classic S5 variant is expected to come with features such as body-coloured bumpers and ORVMs along with other features such as central locking, an in-built audio system, dual airbags, an engine immobiliser and a few more.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Scorpio Classic S5 Variant
With the launch of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 variant, the company will be able to bridge the huge gap between the base variant and the top-spec S11 variant. This gives more flexibility to its customers and could potentially have a positive effect on sales as well.
