Mahindra Global Pik Up Concept Breaks Cover - Time For A Savannah Run
Indian SUV manufacturer Mahindra has taken the wraps of the Global Pik Up Concept at its signature Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Mahindra Global Pik Up concept is a showcase of the firm's vision of an authentic lifestyle pickup truck and is targeted at international markets like South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) among others.
The Mahindra Global Pik Up Concept is based on a high-strength steel, ladder frame chassis and sports the latest mHawk 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine from the firm.
The turbocharged oil burner under the bonnet of the Global Pik Up Concept is good for 170bhp and 400Nm of peak torque and is offered with 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic transmission options. The concept also features Mahindra's 4Xplore four-wheel-drive system.
The Mahindra Global Pik Up Concept sports a rather boxy design which gives it a very muscular and rugged design. Designed at the firm's Mahindra India Design Studio, the boxy shape of the Global Pik Up Concept is one you won't forget in a hurry.
At the front, the upright and blacked-out grille sports the Mahindra twin peaks logo at its centre. The grille is flanked on either side by boxy headlights. Underneath the grille sits a chunky bash plate section while the bulging edges of the front bumper play host to vertical fog lamps.
Other design highlights of the Mahindra Global Pik Up Concept include the lightbar on the roof tray, rugged off-roading tyres, the twin spare wheels on the pickup's bed, vertical taillights and 'Mahindra' badging on the bed door.
The Global Pik Up Concept also sports multiple driving modes, h Level-2ADAS, Trailer Sway Mitigation, All-Around Airbag Protection, Drowsy Driver Detection, 5G Connectivity, and a host of other features.
