Lotus Eletre Launched In India At Rs 2.55 Crore – World’s Fastest Dual-Motor Electric SUV
Lotus has officially made its entry into the Indian automobile market with the launch of the all-electric Lotus Eletre. This new electric SUV is priced at Rs 2.55 crore and it is available in three variants.
Out of the three variants, the mid-spec Lotus Eletre S is priced at Rs 2.75 crore (ex-showroom), whereas the top-spec Lotus Eletre R is priced at Rs 2.99 crore (ex-showroom).
According to Lotus, the top-spec Eletre R is the world's fastest dual-motor pure electric SUV with a top speed of 265 km/h. Furthermore, the Lotus Eletre R can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.95 seconds.
To enable such performance figures, the Lotus Eletre R electric SUV uses a 905bhp dual electric motor setup with 985Nm of peak torque. Furthermore, the Lotus Eletre R also comes packed with a 112kWh battery pack, enabling it to travel up to 490 kilometres on a full charge.
Like the Lotus Eletre R, the lower-spec Eletre and Eletre S electric SUVs also pack in a 112kWh battery pack, and these models are capable of travelling up to 600 kilometres on a full charge. However, these variants come packed with a 603bhp single-electric motor setup with 710Nm of torque.
Since the lower-spec Lotus Eletre and Eletre S come with a single electric motor, they seem to struggle for traction (RWD setup), resulting in a 4.5-second long 0 to 100km/h sprint. Also, all variants can charge from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a rapid charger.
Apart from investing time and money in a solid electric powertrain, Lotus also seems to have invested very well to keep the inner 10-year-old entertained with an outstanding digitalised cabin.
In fact, the Lotus Eletre comes with its own operating system, Lotus Hyper OS. Also, Lotus is using 'Unreal Engine' technology from the gaming industry. Furthermore, the Eletre boasts state-of-the-art processing power with its two Qualcomm 8155 System-On-Chips.
Standout features include fully customisable displays, hosted on an advanced Driver Information Module (DIM), and ultra-slim floating one-billion-colour OLED touchscreen for more realistic graphics.
Lotus has also collaborated with Dolby to utilise Dolby Atmos tech. Along with this, the Eletre's KEF speaker system further enhances the audio quality. According to Lotus, the Eletre is the world's first car to combine Dolby Atmos and KEF Audio.
The standard spec Eletre includes five drive modes, active air suspension, torque vectoring, matrix LED headlights, an active front grille and 22-inch 10-spoke forged wheels. Other noticeable tech include wireless smartphone charging, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats, four-zone automatic climate control and many other features.
It is also worth mentioning that the standard Eletre comes with 1.380-watt 15-speaker KEF Premium Audio, a 15.1-inch FHD OLED centre screen. Moreover, all versions of the Eletre feature 5 seats as standard, with a four-seat version available as part of the Executive Seat Pack.
The Lotus Eletre rides on 22-inch wheels as standard. However, 20-inch and 23-inch wheel sizes are also available. At the time of launch, there are six exterior colour options for the Eletre - Natron Red, Galloway Green, Stellar Black, Kaimu Grey, Blossom Grey and Solar Yellow.
The higher-spec Eletre electric SUV includes numerous additional features such as an active rear spoiler, configurable ambient lighting, illuminated side sills, soft close doors, auto-dimming side mirrors, an air quality system, and a 2,160watt 23-speaker KEF audio unit.
Furthermore, Eletre customers have further opportunities to customise and personalise their car using option packs. The optional part includes the Lotus Dynamic Handling Pack, Ceramic Brake Pack, Executive Seat Pack, Comfort Seat Pack, Carbon Fibre Pack, Extended Carbon Fibre Pack and Interior Carbon Fibre Pack.
