Kia EV9 Electric SUV Details Revealed – Level-3 ADAS, Launch & More
Earlier, Kia revealed the production-spec version of the upcoming Kia EV9 electric SUV, and the South Korean car manufacturer has now revealed all the important details regarding the electric SUV.
Starting with the basics, the Kia EV9 is the second model in the South Korean automaker's line up to utilise the Hyundai Group's E-GMP electric vehicle platform. The first Kia model to come equipped with this platform is the Kia EV6 SUV that was launched last year.

The upcoming Kia EV9 being an electric vehicle, the battery pack plays a crucial role and Kia has equipped the EV9 electric SUV with a massive 99.8kWh battery pack. Kia claims that the EV9 can cover 541 kilometres on a fully charged battery pack.
In addition to that, the Kia EV9 uses an advanced 800-volt architecture, thanks to which the electric SUV can add 200 kilometres of range in just 15 minutes using a suitable DC fast charger.

It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming Kia EV9 electric SUV is also offered with a smaller 76.1kWh battery pack and the electric SUV is offered in both RWD and AWD guise.
The RWD variant of the Kia EV9 is powered by a 213bhp electric motor with 350Nm of torque. However, the electric motor in the long-range variant produces just 200bhp of power and as a result, the model is 1.2 seconds slower to 100km/h sprint at 9.4 seconds.

On the other hand, the AWD variant of the Kia EV9 comes equipped with two electric motors together producing 376bhp of peak power and 600Nm of peak torque. Thanks to this powertrain, the mammoth electric SUV can complete the 0-100km/h sprint in just 6 seconds.
Kia is also offering a 'Boost' feature as an accessory for the AWD variant of the electric SUV. This takes the peak torque output to 700Nm. As a result of increased torque, 0-100km/h sprint time drops to just 5.3 seconds.

However, the biggest highlighting feature in the Kia EV9 is its Level-3 ADAS technology, and this feature will be offered in the GT-Line trim level. However, this variant of the electric SUV will be launched in 2025 and the Level-3 function will be unlocked in certain markets only.
Other noticeable features include a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, massage function, 14-speaker Merdian audio system, 180-degree Swivel captain seats (middle-row), panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and much more.

Kia is planning to launch the EV9 electric SUV in the second half of this year in markets such as the US, Europe, Middle East, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. Furthermore, the company aims to sell around 1 lakh units per year.
