All-New Kia EV5 Electric SUV Revealed: The Baby EV9
South Korean carmaker Kia has revealed the all-new EV5 electric SUV at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. At first glance, the Kia EV5 looks like a miniature version of the firm's flagship EV9 SUV.

The Kia EV5 SUV will initially be launched in China later this year with details. Details about the launches in other markets will be revealed at Kia's EV day event which is scheduled for the month of October.
As stated before, the Kia EV5 SUV looks like a smaller version of the production-spec EV9 revealed a few months back. The new EV5 also looks quite similar to the concept vehicle seen back in March with its wide stance and chunky proportions.

Speaking about the new Kia EV5, Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design Center said, "The Kia EV5 was created to redefine the compact SUV genre with a form shaped by Kia's unique design philosophy 'Opposites United'. At every stage, Kia's designers have worked closely with their engineering colleagues to create a holistic solution for sustainable mobility. As a result, the EV5 sets a new standard for design, performance and practicality while providing new levels of driver enjoyment and user experience."
The Kia EV5 sports the firm's Tiger Face front end with the three-dimensional 'Signature Star Map Lighting' setup. At the sides, the pushed-back side pillars of the Kia EV5 highlight the electric SUV's family-friendly practicality.

The all-new EV5 sports an extended roof-mounted rear spoiler that Kia claims helps improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the all-electric SUV. The skid plates, on the other hand, states Kia, emphasize the EV5's rugged and protective nature.
The Kia EV5 will be offered in a total of 10 exterior colour options when it goes on sale. These include nine glossy colours and one matte option. The glossy colors are Snow White Pearl; Clear White; Starry Night Black; Magma Red; Ivory Silver; Frost Blue; Iceberg Green; Tide Blue; and Shale Grey, while the matte color is Ivory Silver.

The interior of the Kia EV5 looks like it has been lifted from its larger flagship sibling. The EV5 sports Kia's signature dual-display infotainment and instrumentation setup along with a 64-colour mood lighting setup with 10 levels of adjustable brightness.
The Kia EV5's interior is offered in a choice of four key colours and five seat patterns which include two woven options and one artificial leather option for the base model.

Thoughts About The Kia EV5
The Kia EV5 sees the South Korean firm shrink its flagship EV9 SUV to the size of its EV6 crossover in a move that is sure to attract a whole lot more buyers to the firm's EV lineup. Expect other details including details about the EV5 to arrive in October at the firm's EV day event.
