Kia EV5 SUV Details Revealed - 720km Range
South Korean carmaker Kia has revealed all the details about its third battery electric vehicle - the EV5 SUV - at its EV Day event. The Kia EV5's design was revealed to the world at the Chengdu Motor Show, a few weeks back.
The Kia EV5 will arrive alongside the EV4 sedan in 2025 and after the arrival of the smaller EV3 SUV, both of which were previewed by concepts at the Kia EV Day event in South Korea. Like the EV6 and EV9, the new EV5 is based on the firm's bespoke E-GMP EV platform.

The Kia EV5 looks like a smaller version of the firm's flagship EV9 SUV. The EV5 follows the typical 2-box SUV setup which is taken to another level by the firm's "Opposites Attract" philosophy.
Like the EV9, the "Tiger Face" front end with its large LED lights dominates the front of the new EV5 SUV. The EV5 shows off its family-friendly credentials with its pushed-back D-Pillar which frees up more room on the inside. A roof-mounted rear spoiler cleans up the aero profile of the new SUV.

The EV5 is also equipped with cutting-edge infotainment and connectivity technology, including the connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment system. The Panoramic Wide Display, a 12.3-inch cluster, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system, along with a 5-inch climate control display, provide comprehensive information for a convenient and immersive driving experience.
Kia has revealed that the EV5 will be offered in three guises - 'Standard', 'Long Range', and 'Long Range AWD'. The base Standard version the EV5 is offered in two versions - a 59kWh battery and a 217bhp electric motor (Korea) and a 64kWh battery pack with the same 217bhp motor (China). The Kia EV5 Standard offers a range of 530km (CLTC).

The Long Range EV5 sports a larger 88kWh battery pack for the Chinese markets which drops to 81kWh in Korea. The battery pack powers the same 217bhp electric motor and delivers a range of 720km (CLTC).
The Long Range AWD variant of the EV5 SUV from Kia retains the Long Range version's battery pack but switches to a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup producing 312bhp. The range of the Long Range EV5 is rated at 650km (CLTC).

The battery packs of the Kia EV5 offer fast charging capabilities. Kia claims a fast charging time of 27 minutes for a 30 to 80 per cent top-up of the SUV's lithium-ion battery packs which have been engineered to deal with extreme heat and cold conditions.
Speaking at the Kia EV Day event, Spencer Cho, Head of Global Business Planning Sub-Division, stated, "As a leader in the great EV transition, we have quickly expanded our EV line-up beyond the EV6 and EV9 to include a variety of small- and medium-sized models such as the EV5. Our competitive, growing EV line-up will accelerate the popularization of electric vehicles and provide consumers with more options from which to choose."

Thoughts About The Kia EV5
The Kia EV5 is the latest addition to the firm's expanding range of all-electric vehicles. With the EV3 and EV4 showcased in concept guises and an EV2 confirmed to be in the works, Kia's all-electric future looks like it'll be here before anyone expects it to.
