Kia Concept EV3 Previews AI-Enabled All-Electric SUV Due In 2024
Kia has broadened its all-electric EV-badged range with the introduction of the Kia Concept EV3. This concept previews a production electric SUV expected to hit the roads in 2024 that will bear the EV3 badge.
The EV3 Concept is likely to utilize the Hyundai-Kia Group's E-GMP platform, with the new SUV expected to borrow battery bits from the EV6. Single-motor and dual-motor four-wheel drive powertrains are also expected.
Following the design themes of the EV9 and EV5, the EV3 Concept showcases a minimalist approach with an angular design. Reflecting Kia's current "Opposites Attract" design language, a squat, aggressive stance emphasized by chunky wheel arches.
The LED headlights resemble those of the EV5, with no strip along the bonnet's leading edge, and the absence of a real grille. The lack of painted pillars gives the EV3 a floating roof effect, and the sloping roofline ends up in a spoiler that hangs above the raked rear windscreen and the LED taillights.
Inside, the Concept EV3 sports an oval-shaped steering wheel, a floating centre console, ambient lighting, and a huge dual-screen on the dash similar to other vehicles in Kia's EV lineup. The minimalist layout gives the cabin a sense of space, which is practicality enhanced by a bench-type rear seat that can fold upward to store large items like electric scooters.
The cabin of the Concept EV3 provides an environment that promotes emotional well-being. Enhanced by soft mood lighting, the clean shape and surface of the dashboard create an expansive visual sense, offering boundless opportunities on every journey.
The EV3 will mark the first time that Kia has incorporated AI technology in one of its vehicles to assist those inside the cabin. The AI will help with daily operations such as schedule management, route optimization, travel planning, entertainment, and emergency support.
