Karanataka Government Buys 33 Hybrid Toyota Innova Hycross For Its Ministers
Recognizing the urgency to pass the baton onto cleaner, eco-friendly transportation solutions, the government of Karnataka recently made strides towards achieving this priority. It added the latest Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid MPV to its vehicle fleet, a move lauded by environmental enthusiasts and industry experts alike.
This transition towards greener alternatives highlights an important shift in the automotive market, signalling a shift towards a future steeped in sustainability.

The Karnataka Government's Move
The government's transition to hybrid vehicles was announced online, with N.S. Boseraju, the Minister of minor irrigation, science, and technology in the government of Karnataka, sharing the exciting news. He revealed a new white Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid MPV being added to the fleet, which he identified as his primary vehicle.
The exact model variant remains undisclosed at present. This strategic move highlights the government's commitment towards embracing sustainable technologies and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
A Popular Choice
Toyota's Innova has been a favourite utility vehicle among Indian consumers for a considerable period. Its unparalleled popularity spans various customer segments, including families, businessmen, and politicians. The Innova Crysta has been a preferred MPV in the fleets of many political leaders. With the introduction of the Innova Hycross hybrid MPV, it is expected to be the go-to choice for politicians nationwide in their leap towards eco-conscious transition.
About Innova Hycross
The Innova Hycross hybrid is an upmarket hybrid MPV in the Toyota lineup, positioned above the Innova Crysta diesel variant. Its price starts at Rs 18.82 lakh and reaches up to Rs 30.26 lakh for the hybrid variant. The vehicle boasts a brand-new interior and exterior design, offering a refreshing break from the aging Innova Crysta. The model comes in four variants - G, GX, VX, and ZX, and offers two seating configurations: 7-seater and 8-seater.
Performance and Power
The Innova Hycross MPV debuts with two powertrain choices. One is a 2.0-litre TGNA in-line four-cylinder petrol engine producing a maximum power of 173 bhp and 209 Nm of torque. It comes without an additional hybrid boost. The second variant equips the same engine with a hybrid system, offering a maximum power of 183 bhp and 188 Nm of torque. Both engine variants are available exclusively with an automatic transmission.
Innova Hycross: Other Highlights
In addition to Karnataka's adoption, another significant development concerning the Innova Hycross hybrid MPV has been registered. Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, recently unveiled a prototype of the new flex fuel Innova Hycross hybrid MPV, designed to run on ethanol, a cleaner biofuel. This vehicle includes a lithium-ion battery pack potent enough to enable the vehicle to operate in EV mode. However, Toyota has not yet confirmed the launch of this vehicle in India.
In conclusion, the transition to hybrid vehicles, as demonstrated by the government of Karnataka by adding the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid MPV, paves the way for a paradigm shift towards sustainable transportation solutions. By doing so, they advocate for an infectious climate-consciousness that encourages governments and consumers alike to adopt greener alternatives. This crucial development signifies a promising step towards a greener and cleaner future for India's transportation sector.
