Speed, Scenery, and Spirit: The JK Tyre Rally of Arunachal 2023
The JK Tyre Rally of Arunachal 2023 took place in the stunning landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh, a state renowned for its beauty and hills. This event showcased the unwavering passion of motorsport enthusiasts and was made possible by the support of various organizations including the Department of Youth Affairs, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the Motorsports Club of Arunachal, and the Army Wives Welfare Association of the Spear Corps of the Indian Army.
By combining the thrilling world of competitive driving with the region's rich culture and breathtaking scenery, the rally provided a unique experience for participants and spectators alike.

The event coincided with the lively Orange Festival of Adventure and Music and was inaugurated by the honorable Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Pema Khandu, on the evening of December 14th. Shri Khandu expressed his belief that the rally, in partnership with the Indian Army and JK Tyre, would greatly boost tourism in the state.
The Thrill of TSD Rallying
From December 14th to 16th, the rally captivated spectators as 28 teams engaged in the TSD (Time, Speed, and Distance) format, mastering a demanding 400-kilometer journey across Arunachal Pradesh's captivating locales.

This event marked the inaugural TSD-style rally in the region, witnessing robust participation from Army personnel and their spouses. Pilots and co-pilots alike demonstrated their driving acumen and tenacity, maneuvering through the diverse and thrilling landscapes to reach the finish line.
Sanjay Sharma, Head of Motorsports at JK Tyre, acknowledged the long-standing bond between the company and the Northeast. He expressed gratitude towards the Arunachal Pradesh government for fostering motorsport in the state and highlighted the encouraging sight of women, including Army wives, partaking in the adrenaline-fueled experience.
A Scenic Route Through Arunachal Pradesh
The rally's starting point was the historical district of Lohit, where participants reveled in the serene surroundings and sampled local seasonal produce such as famed oranges and pineapples.
The route then winded through Lower Dibang Valley, a region celebrated for its untouched forests and fresh atmosphere, providing an invigorating setting for the competitors and onlookers alike.

In the beautiful Dibang Valley, racers paused to marvel at the breathtaking Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary, a true haven of diverse wildlife. To add to the excitement, a new flying squirrel species was discovered here in the 2000s, surprising everyone on this thrilling adventure.
The journey reached its peak in the enchanting town of Namsai, where the participants were welcomed by the magnificent golden Pagoda, standing proudly on the banks of the Teang river.

The Rally of Arunachal 2023 not only marks JK Tyre's ninth year of association with Arunachal Pradesh's motorsport community but also continues its tradition of supporting the Orange Festival of Adventure & Music.
Since the festival's inception in 2014, JK Tyre has been integral to the event through the JK Tyre Orange 4x4 Fury, an off-roading challenge that pits competitors against the elements in Arunachal Pradesh's challenging terrains.
Victorious Teams and Celebrated Winners

The Rally of Arunachal was contested in three categories, with winners emerging from a pool of talented racers. In the Overall Sub-Event, Neeraj Kumar and co-driver Ashish Deshwal claimed the top spot, followed by Amrinder Singh and co-driver Rangeet Singh as Runners-Up, with Maj Jaya Mehta and co-driver Gulshan Mehta securing the Second Runner-up position. Saurab Bisht and his co-driver Prashant Kumar finished Third, while Amardeep Kaur and co-driver Jyoti Yadav rounded out the top five.
In the All-Women Rally category, the pairing of Maj. Jaya Mehta and Gulshan Mehta emerged victorious, followed by Amandeep Kaur and Jyoti Yadav as Runners-Up, and Sneha Taneja with co-driver Mahesh Taneja in the second Runner-up position.

The Outstanding Army Cup accolade was awarded to Neeraj Kumar and co-driver Ashish Deshwal, recognizing their exceptional performance in the rally.
As the dust settles on this year's event, the Rally of Arunachal leaves behind a trail of exhilarating memories and a reinforced commitment to motorsport, setting the stage for even more gripping adventures in the future.
