Get Ready to Accelerate! Take Part In The JK Tyre Ladies Power Drive!
In a bid to support and empower women in the field of motorsport, JK Tyre, a renowned global tire manufacturer, is pleased to announce the upcoming JK Tyre Ladies Power Drive 2023. This exciting event will take place in Kolkata on August 20 and is organized by Just Sportz, under the guidance of FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India).
The JK Tyre Ladies Power Drive is a unique navigational TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) rally that allows individuals with a valid driving license to participate alongside a navigator who will guide them through the designated route.
This format focuses on testing participants' abilities to maintain accurate speed and timing while following specific directions using a tulip. Unlike traditional rallies that prioritize speed, TSD rallies emphasize timing and strategy, making it an ideal platform for drivers and navigators to showcase their skills.
Participating in this event offers valuable learning experiences for aspiring rally drivers without the need for high speeds or specialized vehicles. By utilizing normal street cars during TSD rallies like this one, participants can develop essential skills that serve as a solid foundation for those interested in pursuing professional motorsport careers.
Following the success of previous women-only TSD events such as the JK Tyre WIAA Rally to Valley in West India, the JK Tyre Times Women's Drive in North India, as well as other events like the JK Tyre Defence Wives Power Drive and JK Tyre FICCI YFLO Power Drive, we are excited to bring this exhilarating experience to women in East India through the JK Tyre Ladies Power Drive.
Over 40 all-women teams will be participating in this event which will commence from Hotel Westin. After navigating through Kolkata's streets for over 4 hours, participants will return to the starting point where winners will be announced during an extravagant prize distribution ceremony.
Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Head-Motorsport at JK Tyre, expressed his enthusiasm for promoting gender equality within the motorsport industry. He stated, "As we continue to embrace the thrilling world of motorsport, JK Tyre remains dedicated to propelling women into this dynamic realm. Over the years, our journey in Motorsport has been characterized by our unwavering commitment to providing opportunities and igniting the racing spirit among women, who now make up nearly half of our nation's population."
He added, "As we accelerate forward, we remain resolute in our mission to drive gender equality in every exciting twist and turn on the track. For our upcoming JK Tyre Ladies Power Drive in Kolkata, we aim to provide each participant with a truly memorable experience."
JK Tyre has played a significant role in training and nurturing talented female champions such as Shriya Lohia, Mira Erda, and Sneha Sharma. These remarkable individuals have represented India on international stages of Motorsport.
Both Sneha Sharma and Mira Erda emerged from JK Tyre karting programs and are currently competing in international formula racing competitions. Meanwhile, young driver Shriya Lohia has been actively participating in global karting races and was honored with the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022 for her outstanding contributions to motorsports.

In collaboration with FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India), JK Tyre has also adopted FIA's highly successful initiative known as The Girls on Track (GoT) program. This program aims to encourage women's participation in motorsports through karting by creating awareness at grassroots levels across the country. By identifying promising talent at an early stage through this program, JK Tyre nurtures these individuals' skills to pave their way towards a career in this thrilling sport.
