Indians Want Safer Cars – Says Skoda’s New Survey Report
'Indians are obsessed with fuel efficiency'. Well, this statement seems no longer relevant as the new survey report by Skoda finds that 9 out of 10 car buyers in India prefer safer cars over more fuel-efficient ones.
Looking into details, the survey was commissioned by Skoda Auto India and conducted by NIQ BASES. In this survey, 1,000 people from 10 different Indian states including Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and West Bengal participated.
It is also worth mentioning that the survey had people in the age group between 18 years and 54 years. Out of this, 80 per cent were male respondents and 33 per cent plan to own a car within the next year.
Furthermore, a staggering 92 per cent of the people who participated in the survey stated that they prefer crash-tested cars. Out of which 22.2 per cent of the surveyed candidates preferred 5-Star safety rating, whereas 21.3 per cent preferred 4-Star safety rating.
What is even more interesting is that only 6.8 per cent of the candidates preferred cars with a 0 Star rating. Also, 47.6 per cent of the people who participated in the survey preferred safety over features offered in a vehicle.
Coming back to 'Kitna deti hai', the survey found that a majority of people preferred crash test ratings followed by the number of airbags. Whereas the fuel efficiency of a car takes the last step of the podium, according to this survey.
At present, the Skoda Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan are among the safest cars you can buy in India, and both models have scored a 5-Star safety rating from Global-NCAP. Furthermore, both these models are built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform as the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan.
Thoughts About The Skoda's New Survey Report
The trend for safer cars in India should be taken very positively and the recent efforts by the government to improve automotive safety by standardising certain parts deserve praise. Furthermore, we expect this trend to continue for a long time due to continuous efforts from the government and carmakers.
