Hyundai i20 Price Hiked Up to Rs 43,000 – Second Hike In a Month
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has hiked the prices of the Hyundai i20 premium hatchback up to Rs 43,000. As a result, prices for the Hyundai i20 hatchback now starts from Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
This is the second price hike on the Hyundai i20 hatchback this month after the South Korean car manufacturer hiked the prices of its premium hatchback up to Rs 15,900 earlier this month.
Diving into details, the highest price hike of Rs 43,000 was witnessed on the Hyundai i20 Magna variant equipped with the manual transmission, whereas the least price hike of Rs 14,600 was witnessed on the i20 Sportz manual transmission variant.
Speaking about the Hyundai i20, the premium hatchback comes with two engine options. The base 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated engine puts out 81.8bhp of power and 114.7Nm of peak torque. However, power output jumps to 86.8bhp when this engine is specified to the CVT gearbox (iVT).

On the other hand, the 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine puts out a healthier 118.4bhp of peak power and 172Nm of peak torque. However, unlike the naturally-aspirated powertrain, this engine comes exclusively mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
That being said, the Hyundai i20 is a consistent seller for the South Korean automaker in India and the recent price hike is expected to affect the sales of the premium hatchback in the Indian market.

The second price hike on the Hyundai i20 premium hatchback may divert potential buyers' interest towards the Tata Altroz premium hatchback, and this is likely to affect Hyundai's current lead over Tata Motors in terms of overall sales volume.
