Hyundai Exter SUV Launch Today – Expectations
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is all set to launch the new Hyundai Exter SUV today (July 10) in the country. As such, here are our expectations about the Sout Korean automaker's all-new micro-SUV.
Response From Public
The Hyundai Exter is expected to appeal a lot to young urban buyers who venture out on weekend getaways. Hyundai knows its target audience and has already roped in cricket icon Hardik Pandya as the brand ambassador for the Exter SUV.

As such, we expect the upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV to receive a warm response from its target audience. Moreover, we also expect the Exter SUV to do well in the urban markets.
Competition
When launched, the upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV will directly compete against the likes of Tata Punch and Citroen C3. Moreover, we expect the upcoming Hyundai Exter micro-SUV to have a sizeable impact on the sales figures of its direct competitors and other closely priced hatchbacks.

CNG Variant
Currently, the petrol prices in the country are at an all-time high. As such, it will be an ideal move to introduce the CNG variant of the Hyundai Exter SUV along with the petrol model. Such a move will attract a wider audience.
Popular Choice
Though HMIL will be offering the upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV in 5 trim levels including EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect, we expect the mid-spec SX and SX(O) variants to be more popular among the buyers. This trend is more likely due to the pricing factor.

Pricing
When launched, we expect HMIL to price the upcoming Exter SUV aggressively with a starting price tag of around Rs 5.6 lakh (ex-showroom). This will ensure the upcoming micro-SUV undercuts its main competitors and attract potential buyers in the segment.
Other Details
The Hyundai Exter SUV will be powered by a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine with 82bhp and 113.8Nm of torque. Moreover, gearbox options include a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Thoughts About The Upcoming Hyundai Exter SUV
With the launch of the Hyundai Exter micro-SUV, we expect to see a slight dip in sales figures for the Tata Punch SUV and other similarly priced hatchbacks including higher variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios hatchback.
That being said, Hyundai could have a sizeable overall sales improvement with the launch of the Exter SUV. Moreover, we expect this increased overall sales figure to help the South Korean automaker keep its lead over Tata Motors in terms of market share.
