Hyundai Ioniq 5 Launch On January 11 – Ioniq 6, Nexo To Be Showcased At Auto Expo 2023
Hyundai India will be finally launching the much-awaited Ioniq 5 electric crossover on January 11 at the Auto Expo 2023.
On top of that, the South Korean car manufacturer is also said to showcase Ioniq 6 EV sedan and the Nexo fuel-cell electric vehicle. Both of these vehicles are touted to grab a lot of attention at the Auto Expo 2023.

Hyundai Ioniq 5
Starting with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the electric crossover is based on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (e-GMP) as the Kia EV6. However, we expect the Ioniq 5 to be a lot more affordable as the model will be brought to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit.
In terms of powertrain options, Hyundai offers the Ioniq 5 electric crossover with two different battery pack options in the international markets. This includes a 58kWh battery pack and a slightly larger 72.6kWh battery pack. In addition to these variations, the South Korean automaker also offers the Ioniq 5 electric crossover in both 2WD and AWD iterations.
Diving into details, the 2WD variant of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover is powered by a single electric motor with 215bhp of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the AWD variant of the electric crossover comes with two electric motors powering each axle. The combined power output of this variant stands at 302bhp and 605Nm of torque.
Being an EV, range is an important factor and the so-called 'long-range' variant of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 equipped with the 72.6kWh battery pack and the more energy-efficient 2WD set-up is rated to cover more than 481km per full charge. That being said, we expect Hyundai to launch the Ioniq 5 with an aggressive price tag.

Hyundai Ioniq 6
Hyundai will also showcase the Ioniq 6 full-size electric sedan at the Auto Expo 2023. Speaking about the model, the automaker grabbed the headlines in the automotive community with a drag coefficient of just 0.21Cd. The result of this ultra-low drag is a very distinct swooping design for the full-size sedan.
The dual-motor variant of the Ioniq 6 puts out 320bhp of peak power and 605Nm of peak torque, whereas the RWD variant of the full-size electric sedan is equipped with a 228bhp electric motor with 350Nm of torque. Apart from that, the WLTP-certified range for the most-efficient variant stands at 614km per full charge.
Hyundai Nexo FCEV
As mentioned, Hyundai will also showcase the Nexo fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. Powering the Nexo FCEV is a single electric motor with 161bhp and 295Nm torque. Also, this vehicle sports three hydrogen tanks with a combined capacity of 156.6 litres, which enables the Nexo FCEV to travel up to 666km without refilling the hydrogen tanks.
Thoughts About Hyundai At The Auto Expo 2023
The Hyundai's pavilion at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023 already looks pretty exciting and futuristic with a bunch of electric vehicles. Also, the launch of the Ioniq 5 electric crossover is expected to attract media attention as well. That being said, we also expect to see Hyundai's future technologies at the Auto Expo 2023.
