Honda Teases New SUV Ahead of Summer Reveal - Hyundai Creta Rival

Japanese carmaker Honda has teased its upcoming SUV ahead of an expected launch in the summer. Honda has been working on a rival for the Hyundai Creta for quite a while and the new teaser image gives us our first glimpse at this mid-size SUV.

Honda has confirmed that the new SUV for India will be revealed to the public in the upcoming summer. However, the price reveal for the new Honda SUV is expected to happen around the Dusshera-Diwali festive period.

At the front, the upcoming Honda SUV features wide headlights with what appear to be LED DRLs above them. The headlights flank either side of a multi-slat grille with the Honda badge sitting in the centre. Lower down on the front bumper sit circular fog lamps which could end up being LEDs.

The upright muscular design of Honda's next SUV for India is enhanced even further when the utility vehicle is viewed from the side. Honda's next SUV features some rather squared-off wheelarches.

The upcoming Honda SUV is said to be based on an updated version of the platform that underpins the Amaze hatchback, but the Japanese carmaker hasn't officially given out any details confirming the same. Unlike the Amaze, the new SUV is expected to stretch quite a bit past the 4-metre mark as it will be butting heads with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder when it arrives on our roads at the end of the year.

So what will you find under the bonnet of this upcoming Hyundai Creta rival? Well, Honda is expected to borrow the powertrain options found on the current City sedan including the new strong hybrid setup found on the City e:HEV. the new SUV is also expected to feature the same transmission options as the City.
