Honda Elevate – Upcoming Hyundai Creta Rival Name Confirmed

Honda Car India has now officially confirmed the name of its upcoming SUV as 'Elevate'. According to the company, the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV is all set to make its debut in India on June 6.

Apart from that, the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV is expected to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and other C-segment SUVs in the Indian automobile market.

Codenamed 3US, the Honda Elevate has been spotted testing a few times in India with heavy camouflage. Furthermore, we expect this mid-size, 5-seater SUV to go on sale around the upcoming festive season.

That being said, though the C-Segment SUV may look very lucrative for an automaker, cracking the segment can be a very difficult task as the segment comes with tough competition and its customers can be quite demanding as well.

However, we expect Honda to get it right as the spied images of the SUV reveal strong design language comprising of an upright nose section and muscular wheel arches. In addition to that, the SUV is also expected to sport a large 10+ inch touchscreen infotainment unit.

This suggests that the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV is likely to come with a desirable design and feature-packed interior - Both of which are very essential to be a successful model in this segment.

In terms of size, the upcoming Honda SUV is expected to measure around 4.3 meters long, which is similar to what most other C-segment SUVs offer in India. However, we expect the Honda SUV to come with better interior space due to better packaging.

That being said, the upcoming Honda Elevate SUV is likely to be powered by the same 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder engine as the 5th generation Honda City sedan, but a Strong Hybrid variant of this SUV is likely to be introduced in the later stages.

At present, the 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, engine in the 5th generation Honda City puts out 120bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Moreover, gearbox options in the Honda City include a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT gearbox.

Thoughts About Honda's Upcoming SUV For The Indian Market

Honda has gradually lost its market share in recent years to new entrants in the market. This could be credited to Honda not being bold enough to launch newer products in India. Moreover, the lack of SUVs in the product portfolio has further affected Honda's sales figures in the country.

That being said, we expect the launch of the Honda Elevate SUV to help the Japanese automaker elevate its sales momentum. However, the success of Honda Elevate will be closely associated with its price tag.
