£1.89 Million Gordon Murray Automotive T.33 Spider Revealed - Limited To Just 100 Units

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has revealed the T.33 Spider supercar. Priced at £1.89 million, the new Gordon Murray Automotive T.33 Spider will be limited to just 100 units.

The new T.33 Spider is the third roadgoing and the fourth overall car from the company founded and owned by the legendary McLaren F1 designer and Formula One guru, Gordon Murray.

The T.33 Spider was designed at the same time as its coupe sibling, the T.33. Like its coupe sibling the GMA T.33 Spider features a rather timeless design which is bereft of any angles and creases that you would find in the current crop of supercars.

The clean and simple design look of the T.33 Spider is carried over from its coupe sibling though there are a few tweaks that help differentiate it from the hardtop car.

The most visible of these changes is the lack of a roof. However, for those looking to avoid getting wet in the rain, the T.33 Spider does come with a two-piece carbon fibre roof. The final prod

This roof can be stowed away into the front boot. Those looking for a bit of practicality need not worry though as the T.33 Spider does retain the rear-hinged storage compartments on the rear flanks of the car.

The images shown here are of the show car. The final version of the T.33 Spider will feature a few changes including the shifting of the windshield around a 100mm forward due to the fact that it sat too close to the heads of the occupants.

One feature that is carried over from the T.33 to the Spider is the roof scoop which is an even more prominent part of the new car thanks to its drop-top design. This also means that occupants will be able to hear more of the induction noises as it does its job of delivering air to the engine.

A change that has happened due to the switch to the Spider guise is the new rear window, which can be lowered to allow easier access to the aural extravaganza that is the GMA.2 V12 engine.

Speaking of the orchestral powerplant, the T.33 Spider from Gordon Murray Automotive retains the sonorous 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine developed by Cosworth that revs all the way up to 11,100rpm.

Under the bespoke rear deck of the T.33 Spider, the engine pushes out 609bhp at 10,250rpm and 451Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that sends the power to the rear wheels.

The T.33 Spider is based on GMA's bespoke iStream Ultralight carbon monocoque like its coupe sibling. This means that despite the loss of the roof, the new Spider is only 18 kilos heavier than its fixed-roof compatriot.

Final Thoughts About The Gordon Murray Automotive T.33 Spider

The T.33 Spider is Gordon Murray Automotive's first shot at a convertible model. Like the three cars before it, the new GMA T.33 Spider shows an attention to detail that you have come to expect from the man behind the McLaren F1 and the Brabham BT46B fan car.

The fact that it is the only V12 manual convertible currently on sale today should make the T.33 Spider a very desirable car in the eyes of collectors all around the world, who'll be salivating at the chance to make this drop-top GMA supercar, the latest part of their collections
