Goodyear Celebrates 125 Years Of Tyre Prowess - Launches Four New Tyres
American tyre manufacturer Goodyear kicked off its 125th Anniversary celebrations in Malaysia by launching four new tyres - Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, Electricdrive, Wrangler Duratec RT & Assurance Maxguard - for the Asia Pacific market.
The four new tyres serve four different sections of the automotive market. The new Eagle F1 tyres are for the sports car and luxury market, the Electricdrive tyres are for the EV market, the new Wrangler Duratec RT are for SUVs and pickup trucks while the Assurance Maxguard tyres will serve the compact, mid-size and entry-level luxury sedan segments.
Let's take a look at the brand-new tyres in a bit more detail. The Electricdrive is the first-ever EV replacement tyre from Goodyear. The firm claims that the new Electricdrive tyre brings exceptional load-bearing capacity, superior traction, noise reduction, and low rolling resistance to fulfil the demands of EVs.
The Goodyear Electricdrive tyre features a wider rib design and high-tech cap compound from Goodyear ETCR electric racing tyre to cope with the added EV torque levels. It also features a patented circuit board pattern for better wet-weather grip.
The Goodyear Assurance Maxguard is the latest tyre in the firm's Assurance series and it offers grip and impact protection. The grip protection comes from the Active Grip tech with the water-wave shield pattern and increased silica content ensuring the new Maxguard tyres offer a stronger grip on the road, especially in wet conditions.
The new Assurance Maxguard tyres also feature Goodyear's Duraguard technology. This ensures that the tyres are extra robust. The tyres feature 2 layers of carcass ply with higher cord density and strength and 2 belts with high-tensile steel to cope with unexpected cuts and impacts.
The new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 is for those looking for the thrills of speed and grip. Designed for performance enthusiasts, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 provides excellent grip in the dry and wet, sporty handling and lower noise emissions.
The adaptive contact patch and and optimized cavity shape help take dry weather performance to a new level while the cap compound with its innovative new resin system allows the tire to have more micro-contact and improved wet braking and handling on damp or wet roads.
The new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 sports a noise-cancelling pattern that helps reduce noise emissions. This is helped by the thinner side design on the central ribs and the radial chamfered groove in the tyre.
Finally, the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT tyres are for those with a need to explore the great outdoors. The Tri-Shield tech used increases sidewall strength, resisting penetrations and cuts through a 3-ply sidewall construction.
The optimised tread pattern of the new Wrangler tyres with solid tread blocks and more biting edges allows for superior grip and traction regardless of conditions. The DuraEdge tech used on the new tyre allows for an aggressive shoulder design allows for deep tread features on the shoulders providing greater protection against rocks and extreme off-road hazards with enhanced traction.
