French Automaker Ligier's Micro EV Myli Spotted Testing In India - MG Comet Rival?

India is the largest populated country, and its rapidly increasing economy has attracted several business prospects to our country. The story is the same for the automobile industry as well. We can see an influx of foreign automakers hoping to make it big in India.

Recently, MotorBeam reported that a French company, Ligier, was seen testing its compact-sized EV on Indian roads. It is a 3-door micro electric car named Myli, and from the looks of it, there are higher chances that this compact EV will get launched in India soon.

Ligier Myli

Speaking of Ligier, the French automaker has a racing legacy and was known for its association with 24-Hour Le Mans races between 1970 and 1975 and Formula 1 racing between 1976 and 1996.

Ligier had plans to do a comeback with a new sports car for their 50th anniversary, but all they do now is manufacture micro EVs and commercial vehicles (Ligier Professional). Myli, the 3-door compact electric car, resembles the MG Comet.

In India, MG Comet is the only entry-level 3-door car available in the market. And the segment has a lot of potential in terms of growth. Ligier might have understood the possibilities in the segment and could come up with a move.

Ligier Myli

India is experiencing rapid growth when it comes to EV infrastructure. With an aim to become the global EV hub, the country is promoting EV adoption in 2W, 3W, and 4W segments.

Currently, about 28 EVs are available in the Indian market, and MG Comet is the most compact and cheapest among these 28. The prices for Comet start from Rs. 7.98 lakh and goes up to Rs. 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

MG is offering the Comet in this price range because MG assembles the EV in its Gujarat facility. By following this method, MG only had to pay 15 per cent customs duty instead of 60 per cent with CBU models.

Ligier Myli

In the EU market, Myli is offered in four variants such as G.OOD, I.DEAL, E.PIC, and R.EBEL. The first two variants get 63km of range on a single charge. Base G.OOD offers 13-inch steel wheels and all-four disc brakes but doesn't include a music system.

I.DEAL has 14-inch alloy wheels and a 1-DIN audio system. The top two variants have an extended range of 123 km, 15-inch alloys, a 10-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a reverse camera, among others.

Thoughts On The Ligier Myli

As a compact electric car, the Myli could cater to the growing demand for mobility solutions. However, even with the extended range of 123km, the French mico-EV does not match up with its closest competitor MG Comet, as it offers around a range of 230km.
