Force Motors Gears Up To Impress With New Military Ambulance
Force Motors has been supplying purpose-built vehicles to the Indian Military, with Gurkha Light Strike Vehicles being a leading example. However, the company's recent test mules hint at a potential new offering – a BS6 powertrain-equipped Military Ambulance.
Force Gurkha Light Strike Vehicle: Desert Warrior
The Force Gurkha Light Strike Vehicle, supplied around 2018, was a custom-built vehicle specifically designed for desert border patrolling operations - Sporting a sand colour and an open-top design. This vehicle was a reliable and rugged companion for our soldiers. It boasted custom kits, enhancing its functionality.
Force Gurkha Military Ambulance: Next-Gen Utility
Fast forward to 2023, Force Motors is testing a green-shaded Force Gurkha Military Ambulance. While one might expect the new vehicle to follow the design of the current PV Gurkha, that's not the case.
Force is still relying on the previous gen Gurkha’s design, similar to the Light Strike Vehicles supplied before. This Military Ambulance looks massive and formidable, featuring custom suspension and axles.
Comparing New & Old: The Key Differences
The Force Motors Light Strike Vehicle and the new test mule share the same fascia. From protective grills for round headlights and turn indicators to a winch setup, blackout lights, and custom fixtures for signal jammers and scramblers, many features remain.
However, the Military Ambulance, finished in green, sports a + symbol on its rear differential and wider wheel arches. There's no snorkel, but the high air intake positioning implies a decent water-wading ability.
The Power Under The Bonnet
The heart of the Force Gurkha Military Ambulance is a 2.6-litre, 4-cylinder, Mercedes-derived FM CR turbo diesel engine that can generate peak power output of up to 120bhp, depending on applications.
It is coupled with a 5-speed gearbox and a 4X4 transfer case, along with front and rear mechanically locking differentials. This strong and reliable powertrain ensures the vehicle's excellent performance in the harshest conditions.
From the Force Gurkha Light Strike Vehicle to the upcoming Military Ambulance, Force Motors continues to prove its commitment to equipping the Indian Military with top-notch, purpose-built vehicles.
