The Ferrari 499P Modificata Is An Unhinged Tribute To Le Mans Winning Race Car

Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari has unveiled the limited-run 499P Modificata, a limited-run track day special that pays homage to the winning Ferrari race car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023.

The Ferrari 499P Modificata, priced at a whopping €5.1m million, is crafted exclusively for non-competitive use by 'gentleman drivers' and is the most expensive brand-new car from the Maranello firm.

This 499P Modificata is essentially an unhinged version of the Prancing Horse marque's Le Mans winning Hypercar and is the work of Ferrari's latest initiative, the Sport Prototipi Clienti program. Think of it as the Le Mans hypercar without all the rules and regulations.

Powering the Ferrari 499P Modificata is a mid-rear-mounted 3.0-litre V6 engine paired with an 800V electric motor derived from the firm's Formula One program. The 120-degree V6 engine and the electric motor combine to produce a total of 697bhp.

Ferrari has added a push-to-pass system that can be deployed by pushing a red button located behind the steering wheel. When activated, this system unleashes an extra 161bhp for a total of seven seconds at a time, upping the Modificata's output to 858bhp.

Ensuring that the power goes to the wheels is a seven-speed sequential gearbox. And considering that the electric front axle is active at all times, the Ferrari 499P Modificata is an all-wheel-drive vehicle.

Along with retuning the engine of the 499P Modificata, Ferrari has also tweaked the suspension system to make it more predictable for the 'Gentlemen Racers' who will be driving the Le Mans tribute at race tracks around the world.

In terms of its design, the Modificata is the same as the race car that won at Le Mans. At the front, the large splitter and headlights dominate the front section. The aerodynamically sculpted bonnet features vents over the front tyres, while the triple intake on the roof feeds the engine with fresh air while also keeping the battery pack and the gearbox cool.

Further back is a large sharkfin setup that goes and joins with a massive spoiler at the rear. Also seen at the rear is a full-width brake light to let your fellow gentlemen racers know that you're slowing down or stopping imminently and a properly mad rear diffuser.

Inside, the Ferrari 499P Modificata is as impressive as it is on the outside. The interior features a fixed bucket seat for the driver, an adjustable pedal rack, a racing steering wheel and an array of switches and buttons.
