Watch Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya Drift The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N was revealed earlier this year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. At its unveiling, Hyundai revealed that the all-new Ioniq 5 N featured a special N drift optimiser which helps drivers initiate drifts.

So what happens when the drift king, Keiichi Tsuchiya himself gets into the driving seat of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. If you don't know who Keiichi Tsuchiya is then you must be living under a rock.

The 67-year-old Japanese legend is one of the co-founders of the D1 Grand Prix drift series and also has two class victories at the 24 hours of Le Mans. For those not into motorsports, Tsuchiya also served as the stunt coordinator and stunt driver for Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Keiichi Tsuchiya got behind the wheel of the Ioniq 5 N at the World Time Attack Challenge in Australia and the Japanese drifting legend came back quite impressed with the EV's agility. The Ioniq 5 N is the first EV that Keiichi Tsuchiya drove that can actually drift.

The drift king commented that he found the Ioniq 5 N electric crossover to be quite agile and that the rear of the car moved quite well. Tsuchiya was also quite surprised to learn that the Ioniq 5 N weighed in at 2,200 kilos as its agility on the go made him think it weighed in between 1,800 and 1,900 kilos.

No matter, the drift king more than lived up to his title as he took the Ioniq 5 N sideways across the track, enjoying the 601bhp available on tap in normal circumstances and the 641bhp offered with the N Grin Boost mode activated.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the most potent version of the Ioniq 5. It can go from 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds (with N Grin Boost mode engaged) and offers a top speed of 260km/h.

The Ioniq 5 N sports an 84kWh battery pack and though a range figure is not given, we do know it charges at an insane 350kW speed allowing for a 10 to 80 per cent charge in just 18 minutes.
