Stage 6 of Dakar saw the riders and drivers once head down to Riyadh with a 357km long special stage and 560 kilometres of liaison stages. The day ended in Riyadh instead of Al Duwadimi due to flooding in the bivouac area in Al Duwadimi which forced all participants to take a 300km link route to the Saudi capital after ending the special stage.

Thoughts About Dakar 2023 Stage 6

The sixth stage of Dakar 2023 had to be tweaked due to flooding in Al Duwadimi with the special stage being shortened by around 100km today. The bikes category saw its 7th winner in 7 days as Luciano Benavides claimed the win today. In the cars category, Nasser Al-Attiyah won his third stage of this year's Dakar and with his biggest rivals all far behind looks quite comfortable at the top with over an hour's gap separating him from his teammate Lategan.

Both tomorrow's and the day-after's stages have also been affected by the flooding in Al Duwadimi. Tomorrow's special stage will cover 333km and will see the contestants end up in Al Duwadimi before they return to Riyadh on Sunday before the rest day on the 9th.
