Dakar 2023 Stage 11 Results: Sebastien Loeb & Luciano Benavides Win Again
Stage 11 of Dakar 2023 saw Luciano Benavides and Sebastien Loeb win once again in the bikes and cars categories respectively.
Stage 11 of Dakar 2023 saw Luciano Benavides and Sebastien Loeb win once again in the bikes and cars categories respectively. Toyota's Nasser Al-Attiyah currently leads the cars on the overall time sheets with Husqvarna's Skyler Howes once again at the top in the bikes category.
Stage 11 saw the Dakar finally head into the desolate Empty Quarter. The stage was conducted under marathon rules, which meant that competitors did not have their assistance teams with them.
The day included a 275km special stage which saw competitors blast through the sand dunes of Saudi Arabia's Empty Quarter as well as some rather dry lake beds where they were allowed to hit their top speeds - 160km/h for the bikes and 170km/h for the cars.

Bikes
Husqvarna's Luciano Benavides once again emerged victorious with the Argentine rider taking the stage in 2 hours, 57 minutes and 59 seconds.
Benavides ended up 1 minute and 38 seconds ahead of GasGas rider Daniel Sanders. Ensuring that there were two Aussies in the top 3 was KTM's Toby Price, who finished the stage 1 minute and 56 seconds behind Benavides.
Hero's riders had a good day out in the Empty Quarter with two of the three riders in the top 10. Hero's German rider Sebastian Buhler finished Stage 11 in 6th, ending the special, 5 minutes and 6 seconds behind Benavides.
Franco Caimi finished in 9th with the Argentine rider bringing home his Hero 450 Rally across the line 5 minutes and 58 seconds behind Benavides on the time sheets.
Two-time stage winner at Dakar 2023, Ross Branch, ended the stage in 19th place, with the rider from Botswana ending the day, 12 minutes and 53 seconds behind the leader.
The lone remaining Sherco rider in the Dakar this year, Lorenzo Santolino put in yet another solid performance on Stage 11. The Spanish rider finished the stage in 8th, 5 minutes and 43 seconds behind Benavides.
In the general standings, Husqvarna's Skyler Howes has retaken the lead of Dakar 2023. The American rider is 28 seconds ahead of KTM's Toby Price. KTM's Kevin Benavides who led the Dakar before this stage is now 3rd overall, 2 minutes and 44 seconds behind Howes.
Sherco's Santolino sits in 11th overall, one place ahead of Hero's Caimi. Santolino is 59 minutes behind the leader while Caimi is 1 hour, 22 minutes and 57 seconds adrift of Howes.
Sebastian Buhler is 25th overall with the German Hero rider now 4 hours, 7 minutes and 50 seconds behind Howes. Ross Branch sits 29th overall, 6 hours, 47 minutes and 48 seconds behind the overall leader Howes.

Cars
Sebastien Loeb is on a tear as he looks to claim as many stage wins as possible at Dakar 2023 after mechanical issues in the early stages left him way behind his Qatari rival and Dakar 2023 leader Nasser Al-Attiyah.
The French WRC legend claimed his 4th win on the trot and his 5th at this year's Dakar as he finished Stage 11's special in 2 hours 56 minutes and 14 seconds.
It was a French 1-2 with GCK Motorsports driver Guerlain Chicherit bringing in his Prodrive Hunter across the line, 2 minutes and 16 seconds behind Loeb on the time sheets.
The final podium spot was claimed by Audi's Mattias Ekstrom, who finished the stage, 2 minutes and 26 seconds adrift of Loeb.
In the overall rankings, Nasser-Al-Attiyah, who finished Stage 11 in 5th continues to lead the race. His lead over Brazil's Lucas Moraes dropped slightly to 1 hour, 21 minutes and 4 seconds. Loeb is third overall, 1 hour. 30 minutes and 41 seconds behind his Qatari rival.

Thought About Dakar 2023 Stage 11
Stage 11 of Dakar 2023 saw familiar faces atop leaderboards as Loeb and Benavides won once again. The bikes race is still a very close affair, while Nasser Al-Attiyah's grasp over the winner's trophy seems unshakeable with just 3 stages to go.
Stage 12 will see the Dakar 2023 competitors return back to where they came from as they ride back to Shaybah, a journey of 376km which includes a 185km long special stage.
