All-Electric Citroen eC3 Revealed - 320km Range Tiago EV Rival

French carmaker Citroen has revealed the eC3 electric hatchback. The all-new Citroen eC3 offers a range of 320km on a single charge and bookings for the electric French hatch will start on the 22nd of January.

The all-new Citroen eC3 is the electric version of the C3 hatchback and will go up against the recently launched Tata Tiago EV. Prices for the eC3 are expected to be revealed in a few days with the electric Citroen hatchback expected to hit showrooms next month with prices starting at around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.

Giving the all-new eC3 Citroen eC3 its 320km ARAi certified range is a 29.2kWh battery pack. The battery pack powers an electric motor mounted to the front axle of the hatchback that produces 56.2bhp and 143Nm of peak torque.

The all-electric Citroen eC3 can go from 0-60km/h in 6.8 seconds and tops out at 107km/h. The electric hatchback also offers two driving modes - Eco and Standard. The eC3 also gets regen braking to help top up the battery pack.

Charging up the battery pack from 10 to 100 per cent using the onboard 3.3kW AC setup plugged into a 15A plug point takes 10.5 hours. The Citroen eC3 also supports 50kW DC fast charging which tops up the battery pack from 10 to 80 per cent in 57 minutes.

The Citroen eC3's battery pack is being offered up with a warranty of 7 years/ 140,000km warranty. The warranty for the electric motor is capped at 5 years/ 100,000km while the eC3 itself gets a 3-year/ 125,000km warranty.

In terms of looks and features, the all-new Citroen eC3 looks almost identical to its internal combustion engine sibling. The biggest visual change comes on the driver's side front fender, which is the location for the new charging port. The lack of a tailpipe is another giveaway about the eC3's all-electric powertrain. The other big giveaways are the white contrast accents (hint - the roof and the fog light surrounds).

Like its internal combustion dino-burning sibling, the new eC3 will be offered in both Live and Feel Trim levels and is also expected to get a boatload of customization options including the Vibe pack. The interiors are also mostly unchanged in the eC3, except for the toggle switch that replaces the gear lever.

Thoughts About The New Citroen eC3

The all-new Citroen eC3 has its sights set on the Tata Tiago EV and if the French carmaker can get the price tag, Tata's entry-level EV may finally have some proper competition.
