Citroen E-C3 Launched In India: Prices Start At Rs 11.50 Lakh - 320km Range

French carmaker Citroen has launched the E-C3 EV in India. Prices for the Citroen E-C3 start at Rs 11.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Citroen E-C3 is available to purchase at Citroen's pysical and digital showrooms across the country and the web.
The Citroen E-C3 is the pure electric version of the French carmaker's C3 hatchback. The electric E-C3 is offered in 4 trim levels - Live, Feel, Feel Vibe Pack and Feel Dual Tone Vibe Pack.
The Citroen E-C3 Live is priced at Rs 11.50 lakh while the Feel variant of the EV commands a price tag of 12.13 lakh. The Citroen E-C3 Feel Vibe Pack is priced at Rs 12.28 lakh while the top-spec version sports a price tag of Rs 12.43 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom).
The Citroen E-C3 is powered by a 29.2kwh lithium-ion battery pack that sits under the floor of the hatchback. This battery pack allows the Citroen E-C3 to deliver a range of 320km on a single charge as per the MIDC testing cycle, which is the best for EVs in this segment.
The E-C3's battery pack supports both 15A charging and DC fast charging. When using the onboard 3.3kW AC charger plugged into a 15A socket, the E-C3 recharges its battery pack in 10.5 hours.
However, plug the E-C3 into a DC fast charger and the charging time from 10 to 80 per cent drops to just 57 minutes. The Citroen E-C3 also supports 100 per cent DC fast charging, meaning the battery pack won't have any issues if charged exclusively using DC fast chargers.
The Citroen E-C3's battery pack powers a single electric motor rated at a peak output of 56.2bhp and 143Nm of peak torque. The electric motor is paired with a single-speed automatic gearbox and drives the front wheels.
Citroen claims that this single electric motor setup propels the E-C3 from 0-60km/h in just 6.8 seconds and onward to a top speed of 107km/h. The Citroen E-C3 is offered with two driving modes - Eco and Standard - with the electric hatch also sporting regenerative braking.
The Citroen E-C3 comes packed with features including a 10.2-inch touchscreen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that comes connected to a four-speaker audio system. The E-C3 also supports the MyCitroen Connect app that adds smart features like vehicle tracking and OTA updates to the electric hatchback.
Speaking at the launch of the Citroen E-C3, Roland Bouchara, CEO & Managing Director, Stellantis India, said, "The launch of the New Citroën Ë-C3 All-Electric is a key milestone for Stellantis in India. With this launch, Citroën moves from being a newcomer in the ICE passenger vehicle segment to a key player in the Electric vehicle segment. Thanks to the engineering and development by our teams and local suppliers on the Smart Car Platform, we have been able to bring this affordable full BEV within 6 months of the launch of the ICE variant of the New C3 and that is a commendable achievement."
Thoughts About The Citroen E-C3
The Citroen E-C3 is the French carmaker's rival to the Tiago EV but commands quite a premium over its rival from Tata Motors. Whether this causes an issue with customers is something we'll only get to know when the sales numbers start coming in.
