Citroen C3 Hatchback Scores 0-Star Safety Rating – Check Out All The Details Here

In a recent crash test conducted by the Latin NCAP, the Citroen C3 hatchback failed spectacularly by managing to score a 0-Star safety rating. However, the model tested by the Latin NCAP was made in Brazil and not in India.

In the test, the Citroen C3 hatchback managed to score 12.21 points in the adult occupant protection test, 5.93 points in the child occupant protection test, 23.88 points in the pedestrian and vulnerable road users protection, and finally 15 points in the safety assist system test.

Citroen C3 Hatchback

In fact, the Citroen C3 hatchback tested by the Latin NCAP came with decent safety features. Some of the noticeable safety features in that car include dual airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchoring points, seatbelt load limiters, and seat belt load limiters.

That being said, unlike the Citroen C3 sold in Europe, the C3 hatchback sold in South American markets is almost identical to the one sold in India. However, following this news, the French automaker is yet to comment on whether the Indian-spec C3 hatchback is identical to the Brazilian version.

Citroen C3

Speaking about the Citroen C3, the hatchback turned out to be a successful model for the French automaker in India. Moreover, the new Citroen C3 is available in three trim levels - Live, Feel, and Shine.

However, Citroen customers can add customisation packages to add features and other options according to their likes and preferences. These customisation packages include Vibe pack, Dual-tone, and Dual-tone Vibe pack.

In terms of the powertrain, the Citroen C3 hatchback comes with two powertrain options. The base 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder 'PURETECH 82' petrol engine produces 80.8bhp and 115Nm of peak torque. Moreover, this engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

On the other hand, the top-spec 1.2-litre, turbocharged, 3-cylinder 'PURETECH 110' petrol engine pushes out 108.4bhp and 190Nm of peak torque. Unlike the base engine option, the more powerful turbocharged engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

It is also worth mentioning that unlike many of Citroen C3's competitors, the C3 hatchback does not come with an automatic gearbox option. Also, prices for the Citroen C3 hatchback starts from Rs 6.16 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base 'Live' variant.

Thoughts About Citroen C3 Hatchback

Though the Citroen C3 hatchback is able to churn sales for the French automaker, it is still a long way back compared to its competitors. With the news of the 0-Star safety rating, we expect the French automaker to face a slight dip in overall sales figures in India.
